The dopey dog has found a place in many hearts since his debut in 1932, and now he has a place on Disney+ with the rest of his cartoon cohorts. Here are ten Goofy cartoons present on the service that display his best work.

10 The Art of Skiing

The Art of Skiing puts Goofy in the Swiss alps where he performs a variety of snowbound stunts, normally accompanied by that famous “Goofy Holler.”Goofy is essentially the everyman of the mouse house crew. He can fit into a variety of different situations, occupations, and locations. As long as he’s getting violently injured in some comedic over-the-top fashion, there’s nothing the Goof can’t do (or at least attempt.)

9 An Extremely Goofy Movie

Though not everyone’s favorite Goofy outing, there’s no denying that this direct-to-video sequel of A Goofy Movie has its share of fans. After all, how many Goofy cartoons feature the guy competing in the X Games, falling in love, and donning a disco suit and hitting the dance floor?

While it might not be the most classic of the character’s material on this list, it can’t be said that this movie was forgettable.

8 How to Play Football

One klutzy dog is a problem enough, but a football team? That’s just asking for trouble. Anyone who’s ever seen a Goofy cartoon will know that he does his best work when playing some form of sport against an army of himself. This was a common practice during the ’40s where the Disney artists had teams of Goofys playing different sports, usually resulting in some insanely violent results. Needless to say, the short is rife with physical comedy.

7 Double Dribble

Where the previous entry was as violent as a Sunday morning gridiron game, watching teams of Goofys play basketball is more slapstick oriented than seeing him crunch on a football field.

There’s a more lighthearted element to this sports-centric cartoon. The Players might look identical, but every one of them has their own personality and level of goofiness. It might not be Space Jam but it’s a great game of basketball with some animated action.

6 How To Fish

If someone were to concoct a formula on how to create the perfect Goofy cartoon, it would feature one part Goofy, one part leisure activity, and one part snooty narrator over-explaining everything. How To Fish features all this and more as Goofy attempts to bag a few trout. While the narrator elaborates on the various methods of fishing, goofy can only bumble and fumble his way through, much to the viewer’s delight.

5 Gaucho Goofy (Saludos Amigos)

Who said one can’t laugh and learn something at the same time? Which portion of Saludos Amigos, we see goofy Don the role of the Argentinian cowboy, the Gaucho.

Accompanied by a familiar narrator and his horse, Goofy Embraces the South American culture and gives viewers some visual examples of life on the plains. Though he’s not the star of the movie, his portion is one of the more memorable features from the packaged film.

4 Lonesome Ghosts

Consider this an honorable mention, but it’s practically impossible not to include at least one cartoon where Goofy teams up with Mickey and Donald, and Lonesome Ghosts is perhaps the best. Not just because he knows how to complement his friends’ antics, but he knows how to take and dish out some serious slapstick. As Roger Rabbit once said, no one takes a wallop like Goofy.

3 Knight for a Day

Speaking of Goofy taking a wallop, how about throwing him into a jousting tournament? Seeing the Goof in medieval times does nothing to hinder his aptitude for physical humor, especially when put into a suit of armor.

There are perhaps few funny occupations surprisingly perfect for the guy than this one. Even with that Prince Valiant haircut.

2 Goof Troop

In the ’90s, Disney went the way of many major networks and began making their own sitcom shows. Seeing Goofy in the role of a comedic sitcom-dad wasn’t really that much of a stretch, so he fit quite naturally into the part. Along with his son Max, Goofy went through all the beats one might expect from Full House or Family Matters, yet with a much more toony twist. The show was very well-received and soon resulted in the following entry.

A Goofy Movie is the biggest chunk of Disney’s ’90s goodness since The Lion King.
