Many reality TV shows have come and gone over the years, but these 10 have to be some of the most hilariously ridiculous to have aired.

Reality TV shows have gained popularity over the years, and entirely new shows are continuously being released. It seems like any bizarre idea that someone can think of it is already out there. From dating shows and fun games to other kinds of competitions, there is something for everyone to watch. And while there are numerous reality shows that follow a similar format to one another, there are some that are hard to believe that they are real.
Some of these series surround serious and real-life situations, but there are others that are odd yet just entertaining enough for people to want to check out.
10 Joe Millionaire (2003)
In Joe Millionaire, Evan is actually not a millionaire, but all the girls competing for Evan’s love think he is, which makes the show intriguing. Evan takes all the girls on extravagant dates and treats them with luxuries, and eliminates one girl per episode. By the end, when he has chosen one girl, he confesses to her that he is not a millionaire but a construction worker.
It’s the girl’s decision to then either leave him or accept his love. If she accepts, they end up getting a million dollars. The concept of the show is just silly enough for it to be entertaining, and viewers find the concept as a twisted spinoff to The Bachelor.
9 The Circle (2020 – )
The Circle centers around the cast members’ social media profiles. Players can either be true to themselves and use their own photos and personality, or they can be someone else and fake their way through the game. If someone is blocked from The Circle, they have a choice to meet one player.
It’s a game to win $100K and seeing the choices people make and just what they will do via social media is astonishing. The show is so different than the others, which keeps viewers entertained, and the interactions between all the players via social media are fun to see.
8 Ex On The Beach (2014 – )
In Ex On The Beach, 10 reality stars think they are joining a regular dating show, but they are blindsided as they realize that they are actually coming face to face with their exes. The exes come into the villa to spill information and try to reconnect or to try to find new love.
There are lots of clashing moments between the ex-couples, but it still holds the classic looking-for-love premise. The grand entrance with the exes is a hilarious concept that viewers look forward to seeing and there have been some iconic and memorable cast members that have truly made the show special and funny.
7 Oh Sit! (2012 – 2013)
Who knew taking the children’s game of musical chairs and making it into a show for adults could make it? This is just what OH SIT! did.
The show is an adult competition featuring a version of musical chairs alongside other physical challenges and obstacle courses. Whoever gets the last chair goes home with a cash prize and the concept of adults playing musical chairs is a funny sight.
6 Splash! (2013)
It can be humorous when celebrities branch out and try new things, and Splash! shows just that. A handful of celebrities come onto the show to learn how to professionally dive. What ensues is a mess, with them facing their fears and falling into the water, but it’s always funny for the audience.
The cast members train until the grand show, where they will perform their dives, but sometimes things don’t go as planned. While the concept was funny, the show stopped after some dangerous injuries. Nonetheless, there are some memorable scenes from this funny concept of a show.
5 Dating Naked (2014 – 2016)
As if there weren’t already enough unique dating shows and competitions, Dating Naked has to be one of the weirdest and more bizarre ideas. Contestants go on 25 dates in the span of 12 weeks, but the catch? They are nude.
There is the classic drama with the people in the house, relationships being created and torn apart, and every other scenario a dating show offers. But the fact that an entirely new dating show could be made by just having the contestants have no clothes on is hilarious in itself.
4 Are You The One? (2020 – )
In Are You The One? contestants are put through an intense matchmaking process, but they are not shown their results until the very end. Their match is in the house and if they choose the “right” person, they will share one million dollars. This concept shows that if contestants find love but it’s not a match, that they did something wrong, when in the real world, this obviously does not have to be the case.
Sometimes, they are thinking more about being correct and getting the money over having a genuine connection with someone. However, the show has seen some great and popular couples. This show is interesting and has lots of drama, but its premise is a funny concept.
3 Born In The Wild (2015)
Possibly one of the most bizarre and potentially dangerous shows ever made, Born In The Wild shows pregnant women who want a more natural birth, and therefore have their children in the woods with no modern medicine or any assistance by medical professionals. Viewers can’t help but stick around to hear why these mothers want to birth their baby in the woods, and if the outcome will be a success.
The show was canceled after six episodes. Medical dangers aside, however, this concept is ridiculous and viewers couldn’t help but find some humor in the idea of a “natural birth” being taken so literally.
2 I Wanna Marry Harry (2014)
12 American girls have moved into an English castle to compete for love for an ordinary man who is faking being a prince. And to top it all off, he looks similar to the real Prince Harry, just similar enough that the women believe that he is.
Throwing an ordinary man who happens to look like royalty in a dating show is an odd concept, and it did not last long. However, while it did last, it was just ridiculous enough to be funny.
1 Whisker Wars (2011)
Competitive facial hair growing is apparently a thing and Whisker Wars proved it. This show follows a group of men who are all competing in Norway’s World Champion Beard Competition.
There is a surprising amount of drama and tension in the show for a silly competition such as this and some of the beards are truly pieces of work. The concept of entering a competition for facial hair has got to be one of the wildest.
