Tom Welling is well known for starring in the WB/CW hit superhero teen primetime series, Smallville, as Clark Kent, also known as Superman. Tom got his start in the entertainment industry as a model, after being discovered by a casting director at a party and booking a campaign for Tommy Hilfiger.

After gaining some success as a model, Tom Welling moved to Los Angeles and began pursuing an acting career. His first break came when he played Rob, a recurring character in the second season of Judging Amy. From there, Tom began auditioning consistently until he won the role of Clark Kent after a nationwide search, beating out a lot of young hopefuls for the iconic role.

10 The Fog (4%)

This 2005 remake of John Carpenter’s 1980 film with the same name, stars Tom Welling, Selma Blair, and Maggie Grace. The film is about a small town, where a mysterious fog begins rolling through.

This fog brings evil to the coastal Oregon town and its inhabitants. The people in this town not only have to fight for their lives but also learn the dark history of their little town and the mariners who were murdered over a hundred years earlier.

9 Cheaper By The Dozen 2 (6%)

Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Tom Welling, Piper Perabo, Alyson Stoner, and Hilary Duff return to reprise their roles in this sequel to the family comedy, Cheaper by the Dozen.

In this film, Steve Martin’s character, Tom Baker, realizes his children are growing up and moving away from home and in an effort to preserve their original family dynamic, he convinces everyone to go on one last family summer vacation together.

This Nicholas Sparks romance film is about an unlikely couple, Gabby and Travis who meet when Gabby movies next door to Travis in a small lake town.

One of the reasons Gabby and Travis can’t be together is Gabby’s on-again, off-again relationship with her doctor boyfriend, Ryan, played by Tom Welling. Of course, true love ultimately wins and it’s Ryan who is left alone and broken-hearted.

7 Cheaper By The Dozen (24%)

This family-friendly comedy is about Tom and Kate who meet, fall in love, get married and have twelve children. It’s a crazy, hectic life for these parents, but they wouldn’t have it any other way.

In the film, Tom plays Charlie Baker, the second oldest child overall and oldest son to Tom and Kate. Charlie is going through what most teenage guys are going through and counting down the days till he can move out of his parents’ crazy home.

6 Parkland (50%)

Parkland is a historical drama about the events surrounding the assassination of John F. Kennedy. In the film, different stories of ordinary people are interwoven on the extraordinary day when President John F. Kennedy’s life was taken.

This dramatic feature film, produced by Tom Hanks’ company Playtone, Tom Welling plays Roy Kellerman, one of the President’s secret service agents.

Draft Day is a sports drama starring Kevin Costner as the general manager of the Cleveland Browns on the biggest day of the NFL, draft day.

After Tom Welling’s successful run on the hit series Smallville he started working more behind the camera and producing other hit television series.

Though Welling doesn’t appear on-screen, he’s one of the executive producers responsible for the comedy-drama teen primetime series, Hellcats, which premiered on the CW in 2010 and follows a group of competitive college cheerleaders.

3 Smallville (78%)

Tom Welling became a household name when the WB’s hit series, Smallville, premiered in 2001. Tom Welling plays the show’s central character Clark Kent, whose alter-ego is a superhero, Superman.

The series begins with Clark being a seemingly normal teenager in the small town of Smallville, Kansas. As the seasons move on, fans eventually get to see Clark Kent as an adult and meet his classic love interest, Lois Lane.

2 Batwoman (79%)

This new superhero series, which premiered in 2019 follows the title character Batwoman, previously played by Ruby Rose. The first season garnered a huge fan base and some critical acclaim.

1 Lucifer (87%)

Tom Welling appears in the third season of this successful fantasy series about Lucifer Morningstar, also known as the devil, who abandons hell and relocates to Los Angeles, where he runs a nightclub and works for the LAPD.

Tom Welling’s character, Lieutenant Marcus Pierce, seems to be a highly respected police officer with the LAPD, but it’s later revealed he is actually Cain, the first murderer, who in the Bible is the son of Adam and Eve and the brother to Abel, whom he murders.
