Pokémon Sword and Shield continues adding new Gigantamax Pokémon, giving players a chance to add to collections and enjoy new Max Raid Battles.

With battling mechanics more intense than ever, Pokémon Sword and Shield’s Gigantamax ability has aided trainers in raising powerful Pokémon with a range of new skills. The addition of new compatible Pokémon to the list that can Gigantamax gives players 33 available choices. While the rarity of an event Pokémon from Max Raid Battles hasn’t lost it’s appeal, the expanded ability to get a Gigantamax Pokémon with Max Soup makes this list achievable without waiting for the needed events. Venusaur can be found in the Isle of Armor dens in either the Forest of Focus or the Training Lowlands or using a Max Soup.

Gigantamax Pokémon: Charizard

Type: Fire/Flying

Charizard can be found in dens throughout the Lake of Outrage or using a Max Soup.

Gigantamax Pokémon: Blastoise

Type: Water

Blastoise can be found in the Isle of Armor dens in either the Workout Sea or the Steeping Stone Sea, or using a Max Soup.

Gigantamax Pokémon: Butterfree

Type: Bug/Flying

Butterfree can be found in the Rolling fields or by using a Max Soup. It is one of the easiest Gigantamax Pokémon to find in dens.

Gigantamax Pokémon: Pikachu

Type: Electric

Pikachu can be obtained as a gift through Pokémon Lets GO: Pikachu, or by using a Max Soup on a regular Pikachu.

Type: Normal

Meowth is obtainable through events, or through using a Max Soup on a regular Meowth.

Gigantamax Pokémon: Machamp

Type: Fighting

Machamp can be found in Pokémon Sword only, in the Stony Wilderness or using a Max Soup a regular Machamp.

Gigantamax Pokémon: Gengar

Type: Ghost/Poison

Gengar can be found in Pokémon Shield only, in the Stony Wilderness or using a Max Soup on a regular Gengar.

Kingler can be found on West Lake Axewell or South Lake Miloch as well as by using a Max Soup.

Lapras can be found in Pokémon Shield at the Giant’s Seat or by using a Max Soup on any Lapras.

Eevee can be obtained as a gift through Pokémon Lets GO: Eevee, or by using a Max Soup on any Eevee.

Rillaboom is given the ability during the Isle of Armor DLC if they are chosen as a starter, or can be obtained using a Max Soup.

With the list of Pokémon able to Gigantamax continuing to grow, collecting every version for battles or completion is a fun task. Raiding dens to get the original Gigantimax Pokémon or using the Max Soup to get that extra large and powerful Pikachu or Meowth is both fun and rewarding. By steadily adding to the list of Pokémon that can Gigantamax, it gives players more reasons to breed, hunt, or battle in Raids. This continues to expand the playability of the game for collectors with every DLC and event.

Whether it’s for collections or for a chance to compete in the league with a powerful, super-sized companion, Pokémon Sword and Shield has done an excellent job adding to the current list who can Gigantamax. With the list still growing, and events adding special abilities or moves to Raid Den Pokémon, there is plenty for players to collect as they complete their perfect team. With the new Crown Tundra DLC just around the corner the possibility of this list getting longer is not off the table, leaving fans looking forward to which Pokémon might be added next.
