Leaks claim that an upcoming Animal Crossing: New Horizons update will introduce new holiday-themed items to the wholesome social simulation game. Nintendo’s adorable title allows players to plan, build and manage their own island community populated by various animal villagers. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has included holiday events throughout its lifetime, with players having mixed reactions to each festivity’s features.

Previous Animal Crossing games allowed players to celebrate the holidays in unique ways, and New Horizons is no exception. However, the newest installment’s celebrations have often been criticized by fans. The title’s very first holiday event, Bunny Day, helped players to celebrate Easter and the spring season back in April 2020. Unfortunately, this event filled the game world with a tidal wave of collectible eggs, which could be found by performing simple acts like fishing or digging. This led to players being inundated with an enormous horde of eggs, which annoyed players regardless of whether they cared for the holiday event or not. However, Animal Crossing: New Horizons’s 2020 winter holiday event was much more well-received, with the chilly celebration adding a host of new items and villagers for players to encounter.

A recent leak, reported by ComicBook.com, suggests that Animal Crossing: New Horizons may soon receive a holiday-themed update. The supposed leak comes from Twitter user Samus Hunter, a well-known leaker who previously revealed early information about other Nintendo titles. The apparent leaks indicate the game’s holiday update will bring back the Holiday Festivities that were introduced to the game last year. However, new items will also reportedly be added in order to make the end of the year even more merry.

A new update for #AnimalCrossingNewHorizons should be near. It won’t be something big, it could also be one of those mini updates that downloads when the game is running, just something that will bring back the Holiday Festifivities for this year and some new items.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons may soon begin another holiday event, but Nintendo’s social simulation title recently received a rather substantial update. The game’s Happy Home Paradise DLC, which launched on November 5, acts as both the first and last paid expansion for the peaceful title. Happy Home Paradise serves to give players more direct control over the village, allowing them to design their own vacation homes. This system grants an abundance of freedom, allowing the player to design each building’s interior in any manner they choose. A free 2.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons also launched on November 3, adding new mechanics like permanent vendor shops and remote island exploration for all players.

With the launch of Happy Home Paradise and the 2.0 update, development of Animal Crossing: New Horizons has apparently come to an end. However, small updates and holiday events may still come around in the future, giving players small bits of new content to experience. While Samus Hunter’s supposed leak is in no way official confirmation, players should soon find out whether a holiday celebration is coming to their Animal Crossing village.
