Apple One Subscription Bundle What You Get & How Much It Costs Explained

Apple has streamlined the way its customers can get access to its various different subscription services with Apple One. The new service will allow customers to bundle together such things as Apple TV+, Apple Music and iCloud storage into a single plan. The company made the announcement during its annual September event, which focused on new Apple Watches, iPad models and software updates.

Apple offers quite a variety of different subscription services that appeal to many users. Apple Music, which offers more than 70 million songs and its streaming service Apple TV+ are probably the more recognizable too. However, the tech giant also launched its own online gaming service Apple Arcade last year, which offers access to more than 100 titles than can be played ad-free on iOS devices, a Mac or Apple TV. During today’s live stream, Apple also unveiled a new fitness tracking service that will be available for Apple Watches.

The new Apple One bundle service will roll out to more than 100 countries this fall, with three different subscription models. The cheapest is the individual plan, which comes with access to Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade and 50GB of iCloud storage for $14.95 per month. Then, there’s a $19.95-a-month family plan that can be shared among six people. It offers the same subscriptions but increases iCloud storage to 200GB. For customers who want everything, there’s the premier plan. This option includes the services above, plus additional subscriptions to Apple News+ and the soon-to-be-launched Apple Fitness+. It also ups iCloud storage to 2TB. This $29.95-a-month plan will only be available in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Australia, as those are the countries that have access to Apple News+ and will get Apple Fitness+ at launch.

A Closer Look At Apple’s Bundle

At first glance, the plans seem to offer a fair bit in savings. U.S. customers who sign up for the individual plan, save about $6 a month. Ignoring student pricing, Apple Music costs $9.99 a month, Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade both cost $4.99 each, and 50 GB of iCloud storage is 99 cents. So that adds up to $20.96, a savings of $6.01. For students, the price savings is only $1.02 as the student subscription plan for Apple Music is only $4.99 a month and includes a Apple TV+ subscription, at least for the time being.

People who subscribe to the family plan save a couple of extra dollars. Apple Music has a $14.99 family plan and Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade’s basic subscriptions can already be shared between five and six people, respectively. Meanwhile, 200GB of iCloud storage is $2.99 per month. So, altogether that adds up to $27.96, which is $8.01 higher than Apple One’s family plan.

Premier plan members will save considerably more. According to the press release, this bundle will save consumers more than $25 a month. However, it may not be quite that high. Apple News+, Apple Fitness+ and 2TB of iCloud storage are each priced at $9.99 a month. So when you add those together with the other subscriptions, you get $49.94. So it’s $19.99 more expensive than the Apple One premier plan. Still worth the money for those who intend to subscribe to all those services, but it’s not quite clear where that extra $5 dollars in savings is found. Overall, Apple One looks like a good investment for people who subscribe to multiple Apple services. However, it’s unfortunate that customers can’t bundle the specific services they want into a single plan, instead of having to pick from one of three preset options. Apple One will offer a 30-day free trial of each tier for those interested.
