As the oldest original member of the Gaang, Sokka is the strategist and warrior of the group. Mastering different techniques from different nations, being subjected to disguising himself due to his alliance with the Avatar, and his overall sense of fashion, we’ve seen him wear several outfits in the three seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Sokka and the group were always on the run, they constantly needed disguises and other methods of blending in, so we saw him wearing all different types of outfits and clothes. Let’s look at all of Sokka’s outfits throughout the show and rank them.
12 Kyoshi Warrior
In the first season, the Gaang travels to Kyoshi island, where they meet the Kyoshi warriors, and Aang channels one of his past lives in the former Earth Kingdom Avatar. While Katara insists on leaving and Aang decides he wants to help the people, Sokka attempts to become a Kyoshi Warrior under the guidance of Suki.
Made up of female warriors, Sokka thinks he can easily take them on but he is humbled and forced to wear the traditional Kyoshi warrior outfit that consists of makeup and a dress like armor. It may not be the most flattering look, but he still learned a lot and started a friendship/romance with Suki soon after.
11 Festival Disguise
Staying in the first season, the Gaang travel to a small Fire Nation territory where a festival tarnishing the Avatar’s reputation is taking place. To avoid attention, the trio is forced to disguise themselves as they are being hunted by Zuko and don’t want to draw attention.
Although masks are helpful in hiding identities, Sokka’s isn’t very flattering. It could easily make him stand out as it is humorous.
10 Fire.Wang Fire.
In the third season, the Gaang attempt their most cunning disguise attempt yet, by hiding in plain sight in the Fire Nation Capital. Aang now has long hair and a headband and is studying in the Fire Nation Academy, while the rest of the group hide in caves.
When Aang gets himself into trouble, Sokka and Katara are forced to pretend to be his parents and they must really nail the disguise. Sokka, in typical fashion designs a beard, to give him an adult look. It’s hilarious and believable and it gets to his head a little bit.
9 Earth Nation Robes
In the series finale, we see the Gaang come together as well as the other supporting cast that have helped along the way. It’s a beautiful moment in which all the friends are together and everyone is finally at peace. Aang is officially the Avatar, Zuko the Fire Lord, and the rest of the crew are all looking forward to their new lives.
Since they are in the Earth Nation capital, they are all wearing Earth Nation robes and garments, with the elegant green and long silky look. Sokka is sporting the green robe with gold accents, a look very different than we are used to seeing.F
8 Water Tribe Casual
For a majority of the series, we see Sokka wearing his typical Water Tribe garments that look very similar to his tribe. It makes him stand out as the Water Tribe is a small nation and the Southern Trube even smaller.
It compliments Sokka’s biceps and it doesn’t restrict any movement while he’s fighting. It also defines the character as a warrior.
7 Water Tribe Winter
The Southern Water Tribe lives in the South Pole, where it is always snowing and the temperatures are always cold. In the pilot episode, we see Katara and Sokka both wearing their puffy, winter jackets when they discover Aang in the iceberg.
The Water Nation is well accustomed to the winter and the cold terrain of the South Pole, and they have designed their wardrobe around it.
6 Fire Nation Swordsman
In the third season of the show, Sokka starts feeling helpless and neglected by the rest of the Gaang due to his lack of bending abilities. He is surrounded by some of the most powerful benders and it’s easy to feel worthless.
In an attempt to cheer him up, Katara and Aang suggest he finds a teacher to help him master the sword and he ends up learning from one of the best. To keep the Fire Nation swordmaster from knowing he is in the Water Tribe, he uses Fire Nation robes and pretends to be in the Fire Nation.
5 Adult Sokka
In the spinoff shows, Legend Of Korra, we jump 70 years into the future following the events of ATLA and we see glimpses of our favorite characters now as adults.
Unfortunately, the only living members of the Gaang are Toph, Katara, and Zuko, so we only see flashbacks of Sokka, a full-fledged warrior, and one of the best to ever live. He has grown into his muscles and now sports a more modern Water Tribe look.
4 Water Tribe Warrior
When all the men in the Water Tribe leave to fight the Fire Nation, Sokka is tasked with protecting the tribe with his army of young warriors. Although Sokka is young himself and inexperienced, he is fearless and goes toe to toe with Zuko and the Fire Nation despite being outmatched.
He is seen wearing the typical warpaint and outfit suitable for agility and trekking in the snow of the Water Nation.

1 Sokka Fire Nation Invasion
After planning the attack on the Fire Nation following the comet that makes them powerless, Sokka is in the front lines leading the men and attacking. He is seen wearing the warrior armor and the wolf helmet which makes him an official warrior.
He earns his stripes through his experience and fearlessness throughout the show. This look represents Sokka at his best, with over a year of gaining warrior experience and strategy, he is finally a formidable fighter.
