Former Batwoman star Ruby Rose has taken to social media to detail several allegations against both the series’ showrunner and Warner Bros. The Australian model-turned-actress was cast as Kate Kane in the Arrowverse’s Batwoman series when it launched in 2019. Batwoman was introduced in the CW crossover Elseworlds alongside flagship heroes The Flash and Green Arrow, with her solo series debuting months later. The Batman-related vigilante, who was DC’s first gay superhero, takes up the dormant mantle left behind by Bruce Wayne to protect Gotham City.

Despite the star appeal of Rose, the actress was surprisingly written out of the show between Batwoman season 1 and season 2, replaced by brand new character Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie). The character of Kate Kane was recast later in the season to tie loose ends, but ultimately Rose’s involvement with the show was over. At the time, rumors about Rose quitting due to complications behind the scenes were persistent.

Now, Rose has broken her silence on her time on Batwoman, taking to Instagram to explain her side of the narrative. Across several posts, the actress details multiple allegations against her co-workers and producers, including former Warner Bros. Television Studios president, Peter Roth. The actress began her post with, “Dear CW […] enough is enough. I’m going to tell the whole world what really happened on that set.” Among other claims, Rose said the show’s producers were responsible for her multiple injuries, one of which required surgery, after she was told getting an X-ray for her damaged ribs would disrupt filming. She went on to directly tag Batwoman producers Caroline Dries and Sarah Schechter, and Arrowverse head-producer Greg Berlanti. Among the allegations are mentions of sexual misconduct by Roth, as well as serious mistreatment of the cast and crew members on set, with the actress claiming she has enough video evidence of her injuries specifically to make a “one hour documentary.” Rose’s posts have been documented on Twitter by Discussing Film and can be seen below:

Included in the posts was footage of Rose in surgery, and the actress said she was forced to return to work on Batwoman only 10 days after the procedure by Roth. The WB head allegedly threatened her into returning by claiming she would cost the production “millions” and that “the whole crew and cast would be fired.” Rose also claimed that one Batwoman crew member received “third degree burns over his whole body” during production, which she says witnesses should have had “therapy” after seeing, and the show also lost two stunt doubles while filming. Rose further criticized the unsafe working environment for causing serious injuries to other crew members, before finally lambasting the show for “ruin[ing] Kate Kane.”

Adding to the alleged misconduct, Rose claims that her rumoured on-set fights with other crew members were as a result of her speaking out about her experiences. What’s more, in the height of Covid restrictions, Rose claims the Batwoman production carried on during the pandemic while other CW shows like Supergirl and The Flash were put on hold. The actress adressed this by saying that producer Dries “has no heart.”

Rose’s claims are extremely worrying and could lead to massive repercussions for both Warner Bros. and The CW, though it’s worth noting that neither have responded to the allegations yet. For now, Batwoman season 3 is set to premiere this fall, with Javicia Leslie continuing as the new lead. What the many serious allegations mean for the future of the show, and any future legal issues they’ve raised, is uncertain. No doubt more developments will arise in the coming days.
