The oh-so-glamorous Christine Chiu is one of the stars of Netflix’s new hit reality docuseries, Bling Empire. The show, which follows a tight-knit group of wealthy Asians who treat Los Angeles as their personal playground, became available on January 15. Here’s everything to know about Christine, who’s dubbed by many as “The Queen.”

Aside from being a wealthy socialite, Christine is also a businesswoman, a philanthropist, and an avid fashionista. Born in Taiwan, she attended Pepperdine University, in London, England, where she studied international business. After starting her career in PR in the beauty space, she met and married Dr. Gabriel Chiu, a plastic surgeon. The two now own a luxury medispa, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery, that is no stranger to celebrity patients. Christine works as the managing director for the company.

In addition to looking like royalty in her seemingly bottomless closet of couture, Christine married into the closest thing to a Chinese royal family when she got together with Gabriel. According to the Chius, Gabriel is the 24th direct descendant of the Song dynasty. Due to this long-lasting legacy, there was a lot of pressure on Christine to produce a male heir, something that she’s not shy to admit. The task turned out to be a taxing one due to struggles with fertility, but after nine years of trying, they finally succeeded at having a son. Gabriel Christian Chiu III, fondly nicknamed Baby G, was two-years-old at the time of the filming.

Aside from owning a medispa and being a mother, Christine is also a self-proclaimed “couture collector.” Over the course of Bling Empire, she’s shown decked out in nothing but the most glamorous outfits and jewelry. Her Instagram is chock full of high-fashion content and ever-changing styles. A frequent attendee at fashion shows, Christine buys at least one item at every show and is a regular at Paris fashion week. There’s no doubt that the Chius live a lavish lifestyle, but that isn’t to say that they don’t give back. According to a recent interview with Oprah Mag, Christine is on the board of 27 nonprofits. She also shared that they, “invest 50 percent of every net dollar that comes into Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery back into [their] community.” The Chius have a close relationship with the British royal family and opened The Prince’s Foundation Chiu Integrated Health Programme, in Scotland, in partnership with the Prince of Wales in 2019.

When asked about how she feels that Bling Empire turned out, Christine expressed that she couldn’t be prouder. She told Oprah Mag, “There was a growing interest in diversity on the big and small screens. We thought this posed an incredible opportunity to be a part of this movement.” There’s no question that the show manages to break boundaries and celebrate diversity while also remaining hugely entertaining. With a little something for everyone, Bling Empire is certainly worth the watch.
