Audiences have seen countless episodes of Bob’s Burgers where Bob and Linda do a swell job at parenting their three children. It’s not exactly easy when their children get caught up in elaborate schemes that can sometimes go very wrong.

While Bob and Linda are good parents in their own ways, one sometimes does better than the other. Bob can sometimes not understand exactly what to do when it comes to a teenage daughter or Linda going overboard with mothering Louise. Louise is known for her scheming plots that oftentimes gets her in big trouble. But there was one occasion where Louise got in trouble for a good cause. In “Thelma & Louise Except Thelma is Linda,” she gets in trouble for pant-ing a school bully who was bothering pocket-sized Rudy. Linda understands that Louise was doing an honorable thing and shouldn’t have been punished.

Having her hands tied, she instead breaks Louise out of school. While what Linda did isn’t necessarily good parenting, she does teach Louise the value of sticking up for people.

As audiences know, Tina is obsessed with horses and a television program called the Equestranauts. When attending a convention, she gets fooled into giving away her rare horse doll. The family comes up with a plan to infiltrate the group that swindled Tina to get it back. At first, Linda doesn’t believe in the plan and neither does Bob.

But in order to seek justice for his daughter, Bob goes on with the plan. He even spends hours and hours with Tina learning about the characters and show to fool the diehard fans. A father who would dress up in a purple horse costume and go undercover for his daughter is doing things right.

8 Linda: The Espresso Machine

In the Bob’s Burgers episode “The Unnatural” Gene decides to join the baseball team. Linda is extremely proud of Gene for taking the chance and is enthused about his uniform. Meanwhile, Bob is ecstatic about his new espresso machine. What made this episode a win for Linda in parenting is what she does to help Gene.

Gene proves he isn’t the best player and Linda sees an ad for coaching lessons. Bob is against it thinking its a scam and doesn’t believe in spending $400. Linda tries to sell her precious porcelain babies. She decides to steal the espresso machine and sell it. Linda believes that Gene can be really good at baseball if he was taught. She even bets that Gene can make a home run, to which Bob completely disagrees. Linda had absolute faith in her son.

7 Bob: Gene And Courtney

Audiences were enthused to see Gene’s storyline shift in Bob’s Burgers when he gets his first girlfriend, Courtney. Gene isn’t enthused because he thinks Courtney is annoying but doesn’t know how to break things off. At first, Linda and Bob don’t see an issue until Bob drives them to a double date.

He realizes Cortney’s annoying habits and tells Gene it’s best to break it off. Things take a turn when Gene meets her Dad who produces jingles. Bob wins at parenting in this matter because he tries to talk some sense into Gene. Linda is more focused on her diet. Bob tells Gene he can’t be in a relationship he hates because of the benefits. Gene is willing to tolerate Courtney just to see her Dad.

6 Linda: Tina’s Horse Camp

What makes Linda a good parent is that she’s willing to spend some hard-earned money on her children’s happiness. Bob, on the other hand, is not as enthused to do so. In “The Horse Rider-er,” Tina desperately wants to go to an extravagant horse camp. Bob rejects the idea because they don’t have that much money and because they need to fix the deep fryer.

Louise and Gene try to offer to sell their things to raise money and Linda comes up with the idea to push aside fixing the deep fryer. Bob is initially against it, but Linda persuades him to do this for their daughter. In the end, Tina rides an imaginary horse. Bob makes the comment that they paid so much money for not even the real thing. Linda exclaims that it doesn’t matter because Tina looks happy.

5 Bob: He Waxes Tina’s Legs

When Louise makes it clear that Linda tends to “mom” up their time with Bob, Linda breaks down. She becomes animate on making Louise bond with her, even if it’s against her will. Linda loses sight of what her daughter really wants in terms of a relationship. Bob even makes a comment that she might be going too far.

While Linda is on her rampage, she forgets about Tina’s dilemma. Bob comes in for the win. Tina becomes distraught over her legs hair after hearing two teenagers talk about shaving. With Linda unable to do so, Bob takes the lead. To make Tina feel safer, he waxes his legs along with Tina.

4 Linda: Gene’s First Time On Stage

Linda sees the opportunity for Gene to showcase his acting talents in “All That Gene.” This episode a bit of tie in parenting between Bob and Linda. Linda encourages Gene to try out for a local production. But the director dismisses Gene. Linda strikes a deal to be a stagehand and sell out the theater for Gene to be in the play.

Gene has no idea and thinks the director really liked him. Bob steps up as a parent questioning Linda on whether or not she’s thinking about Gene’s happiness and what he really wants. He’s under the impression Linda is doing this more for herself. But, in the end, Linda proves to be a better parent. She was confident in her son’s talent but she also assures Gene that his over the top theatrics makes him who he is. Some people may like it and others don’t, but as long as Gene was himself that’s what mattered.

3 Bob: Tina’s Co-Ed Birthday

Audiences first got a look at how far Bob would go for his children in the first season. Tina wants a co-ed birthday with a DJ and a fog machine. Bob tells her they don’t have the extra money. He strikes a deal with Mr.Fishoeder to drive a night taxi. Bob went above and beyond working all day and night to get the funds for Tina’s birthday.

When Tina is still upset about Jimmy Jr. not being able to go, Bob makes the ultimate sacrifice. The only way he’ll attend is if Bob gives Pesto his mustache. After an internal battle, he shaved it to make Tina happy.

2 Linda: Tina’s Valentine Heartbreak

Bob is not always the best at dealing with teenage emotions like Linda is. On Valentines Day, when Tina gets her heart broken again by Jimmy Jr., Linda has the perfect way to get her spirits up. Bob and Linda planned a romantic evening for Valentine’s Day, but Linda makes the decision that cheering up Tina is more important.

Linda uses her limousine voucher to take Tina and Louise for a fun night out on the town. She gives Tina a makeover and spends some fun time on the beach. Linda doesn’t want to give up on Tina and even agrees to give Jimmy Jr. some payback.

1 Bob: Saving Hawk & Chick With Louise

Bob has a special bond with Louise that he doesn’t have with Tina and Gene. She’s his youngest and she’s a Daddy’s girl. When Bob and Louise meet their favorite film actor Louise convinces Bob to help him. He helps Louise in the best way he can to get Koji to reconnect with his daughter.

Even if it meant personally dubbing a film real into English and getting people to come to a secret screening. The sweetest parent moment occurs when Bob reassures Louise that their relationship won’t end like Koji and his daughter’s. He tells Louise that even after 30 years they’ll still be close.
