Bloodborne How to Get the Beast Claw

Bloodborne, the Lovecraftian action horror game from FromSoft games, holds many secrets, one of which is how to obtain the Beast Claw. This weapon can be the most elusive and laborious to obtain in the game. However, for those looking to mimic Bloodborne’s bestial enemies, no weapon will do a better job than the Beast Claw.

The Beast Claw is a one-handed claw weapon that, when transformed, simulates the two claws of a beast. Besides being the only weapon not found in the main game, the Beast Claw also has other particular qualities. When transformed, each attack generates Beasthood, increasing the damage players inflict and receive, replicating the effect of a Blood Pellet. In conjunction with the Beast’s Embrace rune, this weapon gains a different, more animalistic, move set. Additionally, it will also provide the effects of Beasthood, even when the weapon is not transformed.

The reason why many players might miss this weapon in a playthrough is that it is the only one in the game exclusively found in Bloodborne’s chalice dungeons. These dungeons are optional content, each usually containing three areas with three bosses. To get the Beast Claw, players will need to venture into the Ailing Loran chalice dungeon, but first, they will need to open it.

How to get the Beast Claw in Bloodborne

Bloodborne How to Get the Beast Claw

To get the Beast Claw in Bloodborne, players will need to take the following steps. First, they must venture into Old Yharnam and defeat the Blood-Starved Beast to obtain the Pthumeru Chalice. On the way there, they can pick up two Ritual Blood at the altar in the large room with many sheet-covered enemies worshiping a Cleric Beast.

Next, players must defeat Vicar Amelia to reach the Forbidden Woods. They will need to find Patches the Spider to receive the Tonsil Stone. Patches will replace the NPCs locked in their houses in most locations, so he can easily be found in most buildings with red lanterns.

With the stone, players should head toward the Grand Cathedral and take a right to reach the old chapel. They’ll need to stand near the closed door to get grabbed by the Amygdala to reach the Nightmare Lecture Theatre. From there, they can simply follow the main hallway to reach the Nightmare Frontier.

In the Nightmare Frontier, four Coldblood Flowerbuds must be collected, as they will be needed to create the Ailing Loran dungeon. They can be found on the body that triggers Patches’ trap, near the obelisk that players topple to form a shortcut, on the highest ledge in the area with the three boulder throwing giants, and on a small island in the first poison area near the exit. At the end of the Nightmare Frontier, players must defeat Amygdala to obtain the Ailing Loran chalice.

Back in the Hunter’s Dream, players will need to approach one of the empty tombstones and create and complete the Phtumeru and Central Pthumeru dungeons. It is important to explore them thoroughly as they contain materials that will be needed to create other dungeons. After obtaining the Lower Pthumeru chalice, players can create the dungeon but shouldn’t bother completing it. Players should find the door leading to the side area in a corridor before reaching the first lamp. Here, two Snatchers can be found and farmed for Ritual Blood (4). A total of 9 will be needed to create the final chalice dungeon. The drop rate is about 25%, but these enemies also drop Twin Shards that can be used to upgrade weapons, making the farm worthwhile.

After obtaining the ritual items required, players can create the Ailing Loran dungeon and defeat the first boss, Beast-Possessed Soul. After the boss fight, they can take the elevator down and find the side area before reaching the lamp. The Beast Claw will be inside the golden coffin in the crypt.

Should players wish to obtain the Beasts Embrace rune and unlock the animalistic move set behind the Beast Claw, they will need to venture into Bloodborne: The Old Hunters DLC. To obtain the rune, players will need to fight Vicar Lawrence at the Grand Cathedral in the Hunter’s Nightmare.
