It’s not just Rotten Tomatoes that’s seeing an influx of people review bombing Captain Marvel. IMDB is also seeing extremely negative reviews of the movie in a way that doesn’t hold true for other movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe appear on its platform.

The user rating for Captain Marvel on IMDB currently sits at 6.8/10 over almost 66,000 reviews. Approximately 15.2% of those votes rate the film as a 1/10, as opposed to 20.4% of rating Captain Marvel a 10/10. However, these numbers were much different yesterday. According to Inverse, the scores on Friday saw 26.3% of votes rating the film 1/10 compared to 23.7% rating the film 10/10. That gave Captain Marvel an average rating of 6.1/10 over approximately 18,000 votes. The change might indicate an attempt to counter low scores being given to Captain Marvel, or just that people are enjoying the movie, as Marvel films tend to score highly on the platform.

This sort of gap doesn’t seem to hold true for other Marvel Cinematic Universe films. For comparison, approximately 37.9% of 595,000 reviews for Avengers: Infinity War on the platform rate it at a 10/10, as compared to 1.7% rating it 1/10. Captain America: Civil War’s 552,000 reviews cluster more around the 8/10 mark, but only 1.6% of reviews are 1/10. Thor: Ragnarok sees 1.1% of its 437,000 reviews at 1/10. Black Panther is at 3.5% over 472,000. Although there are more negative reviews overall for all of those films, a much smaller percentage of those review rate the film that as a 1/10.

Captain Marvel saw negative backlash after star Brie Larson made comments about creating “more inclusive” press days. She later clarified those remarks, saying, “What I’m looking for is to bring more seats up to the table. No one is getting their chair taken away.” The movie’s “Want to See” section was then subject to a barrage of negative reviews. Rotten Tomatoes later changed its review process, though it claims the attacks against Captain Marvel weren’t the reason.
