Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina took over Netflix for its spooky storyline, attractive cast, and the nostalgia that it brought to ’90s kids everywhere. Based on the Archie comic book of the same name, the story centered on half-human, half-witch Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka) but had a much darker tone than the Melissa Joan Hart led series of the past.

From the very first episode titled, “Chapter One: October Country” to “Chapter Thirty-Six: At the Mountains of Madness,” a lot happened with Sabrina and the gang, and from the very first words they spoke on-screen until the last, the main characters of the show grew and became fan-favorites to the very end.

11 Sabrina Spellman

“In the town of Greendale, where it always feels like Halloween, there lived a girl who was half-witch, half-mortal, who, on her 16th birthday, would have to choose between two worlds. The witch world of her family, and the human of her friends. My name is Sabrina Spellman, and that girl is me.” – “That is a plus.”

Sabrina’s introduction to the series is one of the best, and her first line explains what’s to come in perfectly. She can be seen out and about in Greendale with her friends, in a scary movie about zombies.

After Sabrina enters the “Sweet Hereafter,” she notices Nick (Gavin Leatherwood) is there with her. Realizing he couldn’t live without her, he drowned in the “Sea of Sorrows.” Knowing they’ll be together forever, Sabrina’s last line recognizes the fact that she won’t be alone in this realm forever. Of all the character endings, theirs is one of the most fitting, and beautiful. Also, her transformation from Part One proves that she’s changed from a high school girl to a powerful witch in a coven.

10 Harvey Kinkle

“I was confused by the zombies. I mean, why were they so freakin’ slow?” – “What? What do you mean?”

Before Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch) and Rosalind Walker became one of the cutest couples on the show, Harvey was seen at a movie with then-girlfriend Sabrina. The original gang is debating the zombie movie they’ve just seen and Harvey is confused why the zombies are so slow.

After Sabrina is making a plan for “The Void,” and how to stop it, she asks Ambrose (Chance Perdomo) and Harvey to find the rest of the group and bring them back to safety. Harvey’s last line is recognition of what’s to come and how dangerous this plan is.

9 Hilda Spellman

“Morning, daring. How did you sleep?” – “Let’s go, come on.”

In the pilot episode, Sabrina comes down for breakfast and is greeted by her auntie, Hilda (Lucy Davis). In true Hilda fashion, her cheeriness and thoughtfulness towards others is apparent when she asks Sabrina how she slept.

In the series finale, Hilda is comforting her sister Zelda (Miranda Otto) in front of Sabrina’s shrine at The Academy of Unseen Arts. Her last line happens when she’s ushering Zelda away and out of scene.

8 Zelda Spellman

“Tempestuously, by the sounds of it.” – “Why? Why did you not preserve our Dark Mother? It’s not right, Hilda, it’s just not right that she’s gone.”

Zelda Spellman is known for her directness and sassy remarks, which is what she provided for her first line in the series. She’s clearly annoyed by the noise Sabrina was making in her room the night before and is seen smoking her cigarette and reading the paper; something she does frequently throughout the series.

Zelda isn’t known for showing her emotions, and by the end of the series, she’s clearly devastated by Sabrina’s passing. She covers up her sadness when she asks Hilda why the Dark Mother’s statue wasn’t preserved.

7 Rosalind Walker

“Brina, why would you do that?” – “Stop! Not until you come with us.”

Before Rosalind Walker (Jaz Sinclair) became blind, and before she realized she’s a seer, she’s seen with her friends outside the local movie theater. After Sabrina invites their teacher Mary Wardwell (Michelle Gomez) to go to the diner with them, Roz is weirded out and asks her why she would do that.

In the series finale, Roz is pleading with Sabrina to join her family and friends, instead of sacrificing herself to “The Void.” Since the situation has affected Sabrina’s powers, she makes Roz disappear. She’s saved by her boyfriend Harvey later on.

6 Prudence Blackwood (née Night)

“A summoning spell, Sabrina?” – “Oh, you’d find a way. Not if you’re scattered into the four corners of the Earth.”

Prudence (Tati Gabrielle) always had it out for Sabrina, and it was only until later in the series that they even tolerated each other. In the pilot, Sabrina conjures the Weird Sisters, also known as Prudence, Dorcas (Abigail Cowen), and Agatha (Adeline Rudolph). She’s first seen in the woods, where Prudence casts a nasty spell on Sabrina.

Initially, Prudence wanted a father-daughter relationship with her dad, Faustus Blackwood (Richard Coyle), but throughout the series, she realizes how despicable he is. After Faustus is locked up and bound, Prudence’s last words to him, and of the series, introduce her bloody plans to rid of her father for good.

5 Susie/Theo Putnam

“It’s fine.” – “Guys! It’s working.”

Before Susie (Lachlan Watson) identified as Theo Putnam, several football players often bullied him, and Sabrina was having none of it. The situation embarrassed Susie, and they asked Sabrina to leave it alone. Of course, Sabrina takes matters into her own hands by casting a spell on them.

After Harvey travels into “The Void” to save the people stuck in it, Theo can be seen from the outside, holding the rope to assure they find their way back home. He excitedly announces that their efforts are working.

4 Ambrose Spellman

“Oh, want me to bring it back?” – “Get ready aunties, Nicholas has unleashed Pandora’s Box.”

In the pilot, after Sabrina mentions a bat flew into her window, Ambrose nonchalantly asks if he can help in bringing it back for her. As a powerful warlock, he’s able to perform the Necromancy spell, which can control, manipulate or resurrect the dead.

While he’s clutching Prudence Blackwood in front of “The Void,” he warns his aunties, Zelda and Hilda, to be prepared for what comes next. Opening Pandora’s Box will help to destroy “The Void,” but might trap Sabrina in the process.

3 Nicholas Scratch

“Hi, Nicholas Scratch; Nick Scratch. Mind if I join you?” – “Hey, hey, hey, hey. What’s important is that we’re together here. Forever and ever.”

Once Sabrina agrees to take classes at The Academy of Unseen Arts, she’s greeted by Nicholas Scratch at lunch. From the get-go, it’s obvious they have a connection, even though Sabrina is with Harvey.

After Nick appears in the “Sweet Hereafter” to join Sabrina, her shocking realization is apparent. After sacrificing himself to be with her, the couple can be seen closing out the series as they kiss in the afterlife, bound forever.

2 Lilith/Mary Wardwell

“Help me, please!” – “And so, ends the Eldritch Gospel, according to the Right Reverend Lovecraft. Admoriam Faustus Glorium.”

Lilith (Jenna Berman) kills Baxter High teacher Mary Wardwell and takes over her body to get closer to Sabrina. The first line comes from the real Lilith after Mary finds her on a dark road driving home.

After Lilith resurrected Mary, her last words pay homage to Lovecraftian influences the show includes. The words come from a book written by Reverend Lovecraft, also known as Faustus Blackwood, as well as the “Eldritch Terrors” that appeared in Part two, three, and four of the show. Even though this isn’t a direct relation to the Cthulhu Mythos deities, the villains’ traits come from Lovecraft themes.

1 Father Faustus Blackwood

“Is this the child?” – “No. Noooooo!”

Father Blackwood’s introduction happens in front of a roaring fire when he meets Sabrina for the first time. As Hilda and Zelda introduce them to one another, it’s clear Blackwood’s intentions aren’t pure.

After all the pain Faustus caused throughout the series, his love child Prudence delivers him to his fate when he’s blinded and chained in Part four. As she turns on the chainsaw, he can be heard screaming after realizing what is to come.
