Dancing With The Stars The 10 Best Dances Of Season 30

Season 30 of Dancing with the Stars is officially in the books and not many fans saw the end result coming. The favorite throughout the season was the incredibly consistent JoJo Siwa and she remained impressive until the end. However, Iman Shumpert took home the coveted trophy after improving dramatically.

As is the case with every season, the show featured some truly great dances that stood out above the rest. Some were immediately iconic and watched thousands of times on repeat while others were emotional and had viewers in tears. A few will likely even go down among the best in series history.

10 JoJo Siwa’s Salsa (Week 8)

Week 8 was the final episode to feature a special theme before the semi-finals and finals. With Janet Jackson as the focal point, there were some standout dances but it could be argued that the best came from JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson.

Set to “Feedback,” the two put on a show-stopping performance that saw JoJo display some impressive strength with some of the lifts she busted out. In fact, those “gimmicks” were what prevented Len from giving it a 10, holding back a perfect score. The rest of the judges and the fans loved them though, helping to make this a great Dancing with the Stars season.

9 Amanda Kloots’s Contemporary (Week 9)

While JoJo Siwa was indeed the show’s most consistent performer, Amanda Kloots ranked just behind her. She was a strong competitor throughout but had her shining moment during the semi-finals in what ended up as possibly the show’s most emotional dance.

Amanda and her pro dancer Alan Bersten delivered a contemporary set to “Live Your Life” by Nick Cordero. The dance itself was fantastic but this one really hit home because Cordero was Kloots’s husband who passed away from COVID-19 the previous year. Along with giving a perfect score, the judges noted that they had seen something special.

8 JoJo Siwa’s Contemporary (Week 9)

Of course, Amanda wasn’t the only dancer to do something incredible during the semi-finals. JoJo also performed a contemporary that left the crowd, judges, and viewers at home blown away. Like Amanda’s dance that same night, JoJo had an emotional bond with hers.

For JoJo, “Before You Go” by Lewis Capaldi gave her a connection to her grandfather. You could see how much the dance meant to JoJo as she racked up yet another perfect score from the judges. As great as it was, it was par for the course for the star.

7 Cody Rigsby’s Freestyle (Week 10)

Anyone who questioned Cody Rigsby being in the finals was quieted on that last show. He shut up any doubters with his last dance of the season, performing a freestyle set to “Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels” by Todrick Hall.

This was Cody at his very best, completely unleashing his personality and dominating the stage. As good as his partner Cheryl Burke was, you almost forgot she was on stage because of how great Cody was. This was his high point on the show and he nailed a perfect score.

6 JoJo Siwa’s Tango (Week 7)

One of the most anticipated episodes of season 30 was week 7’s special Queen night. The likes of Olivia Jade, Jimmie Allen, and Melora Hardin all had great weeks here but as was often the case, JoJo Siwa stood tall above the rest.

She was excited to find out that she and Jenn would be dancing to “Body Language” and they made good use of the track. This was one of the most intense dances of the year, really shining a light on how close the two had become throughout their journey.

5 Suni Lee’s Samba (Week 8)

There’s no question that Janet Jackson week was among the best of the season. Joining the standout performances from JoJo and Melora Hardin (who scored a perfect 40) was Olympic gold medalist and perennial favorite Suni Lee, dancing with her partner Sasha Farber.

Lee was someone who didn’t get many perfect scores but always impressed with her athletic skills and her ability to improve on what the judges criticized. Dancing to “All For You,” Lee was at her best here, as the samba worked to her strengths. She was unfortunately sent home a week later though.

4 JoJo Siwa’s Jazz (Week 6)

Audiences and the dancers themselves had a blast during horror week as they got to dress up as some of the most iconic scary characters ever. From The Miz’s Pinhead to Suni’s tribute to The Vampire Diaries, it was such fun. One of the only perfect scores that night went to JoJo Siwa.

She got all dolled up as Pennywise from It while Jenna donned a yellow raincoat to portray Georgie, the clown’s memorable first victim. The version of “Anything Goes” by District 78 they danced to made it unique, they incorporated Georgie’s ripped off arm into the dance, and it even frightened Derek Hough.

3 JoJo Siwa’s Foxtrot (Week 5)

As usual, there weren’t a ton of high scores given out in the first few weeks. Even though JoJo Siwa felt like the best dancer during that time, she didn’t get her first 40 until week 5. Set during “Grease Night,” JoJo and Jenna were given “Look At Me, I’m Sandra Dee” to perform.

It worked well to showcase their unique partnership as two female dancers, with one playing Sandy and the other taking on the role of Frenchie. They told a beautiful story within the dance and captivated the audience and judges en route to the first perfect score of the season.

2 Iman Shumpert’s Freestyle (Week 10)

Sometimes, it’s best to save your best for last and that is just about what Iman Shumpert did. In the final dance that anyone did this season, Shumpert performed a freestyle to Missy Elliott’s “Lose Control” that was as high energy as the music video for that song.

The Teyana and Iman star was typically at his best in fast dances, so this played to his strengths. He even had a solo where he looked fantastic before moving over to let his partner Daniella Karagach strut her stuff for a bit. It was the ideal sendoff for the eventual winners.

1 Iman Shumpert’s Contemporary (Week 6)

When it came time for the horror special episode, Iman Shumpert was excited to learn that he’d be doing Us. The Jordan Peele film is one that he likes a lot, so he put his all into the dance. Considering Shumpert didn’t even know what a contemporary dance was beforehand, his performance was remarkable.

Dressed like the characters in the film and often moving like them, he and Daniella danced to the “I Got 5 on It” remix and nailed every little detail. It was breathtaking to watch him fling her around the ballroom and catch her as she fell off his shoulders perfectly. The dance earned a standing ovation, Derek Hough jumped on the judges’ table, Carrie Ann bowed to them, and even LeBron James talked about it the next day.
