Demon Slayer Game Updates New Characters Susamaru and Yahaba Announced

The latest Demon Slayer game, Demon Slayer: Kimetso no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles, has released two new fighters in a free update, and two more are coming soon. The game is based on the manga series Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba), which gained considerable popularity when the first season of the series anime was released in 2019. When Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles was released on Playstation, Xbox, and PC on October 15th, players praised the game’s fighting mechanics but were disappointed in the relative lack of playable characters.

The game was created by CyberConnect2, who previously worked on the Naruto Ninja Storm series, and it faithfully recreates many of the most exciting moments from the first and second seasons of the anime. After players finished the story mode and unlocked Demon Slayer’s 18 playable characters, they shifted to the game’s multiplayer modes. The game offers both online and local multiplayer in which players can face off against each other using their favorite characters from the series. Each character uses the same buttons for attacks and techniques, but each character has different attacks and techniques for players to master.

Since the game’s release, fans have been voicing their concerns online about the lack of playable characters and differing playstyles, because many of the characters released at launch share similar techniques. Now, fans are getting answers to these concerns. As noted by Ryokutya2089 (via Gematsu) in a recent issue of Japan’s Weekly Shonen Jump, the game’s second DLC update is coming in November or early December, and will add Susamaru and Yahaba to the game. The two new characters posed a significant threat to the series two main protagonists around the middle section of the game’s story mode, and they should provide a different experience for players hungry for more content and more rewards to unlock in the Demon Slayer game.

The Hinokami Chronicles’ first major update was released on November 4th, adding Rui and Akaza to the game’s multiplayer modes. The two demons served as two of the story mode’s most challenging boss battles and offer very different types of gameplay compared to the game’s playable Demon Slayers. The third and final update is set to add two more characters to the game, but the identity of these two fighters and the release window for that update is still unknown.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles is the latest 3D Arena fighter from CyberConnect2, whose previous games have garnered considerable success, which did a fantastic job of telling that series story while also having a massive multiplayer roster over 100 playable characters. When Demon Slayer launched with only 18 playable characters, fans of the company’s previous work were disappointed. With the addition of 6 new playable demons being added to the roster, the game is still far from its developer’s previous glory, but this update should still give fans a reason to return to the game.
