At some point in their life, everyone has watched a Disney movie. Disney has become a household name and their cartoons are typically considered family-friendly. Many adults grew up watching these movies as a child and have now shared these movies with their children.

Of course, not all Disney cartoons are great for all children. Several of these movies, such as Brother Bear, Princess and the Frog, Aladdin, and The Jungle Book have multiple depictions of violence or several terrifying scenes. And while one will likely remember that Aladdin contains several haunting scenes in the Cave of Wonders, there are other movies that contain scary moments that are forgotten. Check out these 10 scary moments in otherwise family-friendly movies.

Sleeping Beauty contains many beautiful scenes in which Aurora sings and prances around the forest with her animal friends. Aurora’s fairy friends and Prince Phillip’s horse Samson add some much-needed humor to the movie, but this movie isn’t all carefree beauty.

While scenes with Maleficent may make children jump, the true horror occurs when Aurora is drawn towards the spindle. Suddenly, the princess appears to be in a trance and follows an ominous green glow. As she reaches out to touch the sharp spindle, a creepy voice-over cackles “touch the spindle!” and Maleficent appears standing over Aurora’s unconscious body.

9 Pocahontas: Kocoum’s Death

Many people find antique dolls and ventriloquist dummies spooky. Toy Story 4 used this to its advantage when Pixar introduced the antagonist Gabby Gabby and her minions. Unsettling music plays as these dummies push Gabby Gabby around the dusty antique store.
