Elder Scrolls 6 Location Why Hammerfell Would Be A Great Setting

Bethesda’s upcoming fantasy RPG, The Elder Scrolls 6, has been the subject of much speculation by fans of the franchise, with multiple debates cropping up regarding the game’s potential setting. One of the more popular theories places the Elder Scrolls 6 in the province of Hammerfell – and, if this turns out to be the case, Hammerfell would make for a great TES6 setting for several reasons.

Many fans have speculated that the franchise’s latest game could introduce players to areas that have yet to be explored in the Elder Scrolls series. Elsweyr and Valenwood are popular Elder Scrolls 6 destinations in these discussions – although both appear in Elder Scrolls Online, they have yet to be featured in a mainline Elder Scrolls game. Other players likely want to revisit settings that were introduced in older entries in the franchise, such as Cyrodiil from Oblivion or the Iliac Bay from Daggerfall.

Bethesda has provided players with a few cryptic hints towards the location of The Elder Scrolls 6, and while these clues haven’t been enough to definitively answer the question, they’ve provided some solid ground for various theories. Currently, High Rock and Hammerfell are the strongest contenders for The Elder Scrolls 6’s setting, but Hammerfell in particular holds a lot of potential for exploration and development of the ongoing story of the Elder Scrolls universe.

Why Hammerfell Is The Perfect Elder Scrolls 6 Setting

One of the main questlines in Skyrim involves the civil war between the Stormcloaks and Imperials, a conflict that was kicked off in large part because of the Aldmeri Dominion’s presence in the Empire. But during the period of dissent in Skyrim, Hammerfell continued to resist the Thalmor – and, presumably, by the time Skyrim’s civil war ends Hammerfell is a significant anti-Thalmor bastion in Tamriel. As the successor to Skyrim, The Elder Scrolls 6 will very likely involve the conclusion of the conflict with the Aldmeri Dominion. Hammerfell is also positioned right beside Skyrim on the map of Tamriel, making it a logical progression both story-wise and geographically speaking.

Hammerfell has been visited by Elder Scrolls fans before. It served as the setting for the game Redguard, which was released in 1998, and can also be explored in The Elder Scrolls Online. The rocky deserts featured in Hammerfell are a stark contrast to the snowy environments of Skyrim and would help to differentiate Elder Scrolls 6 from its predecessor. The Redguards, which are the main race within the province of Hammerfell, would also provide a unique new viewpoint in comparison to Skyrim’s Nords. Though as of yet nothing has been concretely announced, the series seems poised from both a lore and a gameplay perspective to introduce Hammerfell as the setting of The Elder Scrolls 6.
