Every Gossip Girl Wedding Ranked From Worst To Best

There’s nothing like a TV wedding; weddings in real life involve getting dressed up and sitting quietly while people exchange vows, usually without much drama, and, lets be honest, dragging it out a little longer than they need to. The worst thing that happens is someone’s uncle gets too drunk and embarrasses himself by trying to prove that he remembers the dance moves that were popular when he was in school.

Gossip Girl, thankfully, is a different animal. Not only does its weddings provide romance, drama, and spectacle, but everyone involved is dressed impeccably—with the exception of Lily’s wedding to Bart, but we’ll get to that. Nobody does drama quite like the fictional Upper East Siders.

7 Dan and Serena

Let’s start with the good; Serena looks like the sun itself, and Chuck and Blair’s house is adorable. Blair has apparently stopped slut-shaming Jenny long enough to broker a business deal with her if the “J by Waldorf” bag is any indication. It’s all bittersweet finale vibes, and the travesty that is Dan marrying Serena can almost be overlooked. Almost.

But, this couple stopped being cute in season one, and they never again managed to capture the magic of the early stages of their relationship. Why they got married is beyond anyone, but the best guess is that Dan saw this as an official way “in” and Serena saw it as a way to be counterculture in the mildest way possible. It’s all very season one of them.

6 Rufus and Lily

Lily and Rufus finally tied the knot in a ceremony that got derailed and moved to the “small” Brooklyn loft where Rufus lived with his kids, Dan and Jenny. There’s drama in spades; Scott, the son Lily had and never told Rufus about, arrives in time to see Lily and Rufus arguing about him. They chase him down, clear the air, and then… he’s never seen again?

Nate brings his girlfriend Bree, who has a very Southern vendetta against Carter, who’s dating Serena, who’s got her hands full trying to change him and herself… it’s a lot, really. Blair and Chuck are staying relatively low-key for once, casually upstaging everyone in their coordinating outfits.

5 Louis and Blair

Gossip Girl gives its take on a royal wedding in the hundredth episode. If The Crown has taught us anything, it’s that being in love with someone else is no reason not to march down that aisle. Blair takes this advice to heart—there’s also a promise to God involved regarding Chuck’s life—and is determined to marry her prince.

Everyone looks beautiful, and Chuck throws his hat in the ring one last time. Just as Blair is about to say her vows, Gossip Girl steps in with a video from like ten minutes before of Blair telling Chuck she loves him. She makes a dramatic dash back down the aisle, sans husband, and comes back after collecting herself. Louis barely makes it to the reception before telling Blair that he hates her for making a fool of him, so Dan gets the getaway car ready before Serena can get through her hundredth love proclamation.

4 Bart and Lily

When you wake up on the morning of your wedding with a man who isn’t your fiancé, it’s usually a sign that things are off to a poor start. Just ask Lily, who slept with Rufus the night before she married Bart. She ultimately decided to go through with her wedding, with Rufus’ blessing.

If we know one thing about Lily Van Der Woodsen/Bass/Humphrey, it’s that she always keeps her eye on the prize. The bride wasn’t the only one with drama on her special day. Serena and Dan break up, right after he delivers the iconic line “I am the most understanding person in the world.” Chuck uses his dad’s wedding as a chance to declare his love for Blair, who, like everyone else at this cursed event, is dressed terribly.

3 Chuck and Blair

Gossip Girl gave fans everything they wanted with a Chuck-and-Blair wedding in the finale. After witnessing/sort of causing his father’s death, Chuck and Blair are on the run. Jack, the charming old uncle who you might recall from the times he attacked Lily and slept with Chuck’s bride-to-be, informs the two that Blair, the only witness to Chuck’s crime, can’t testify against him if they’re married.

Blair snags what might be the most gorgeous dress she’s ever worn, and everyone hurries to watch them exchange vows. They have time to rehash the whole “how many ways can we say ‘I love you’ without actually saying it” before they’re dragged away by the police for questioning. It’s a wedding fitting in its drama and scandal for the most dramatic and scandalous couple on the show.

2 Vanya and Dorota

Dorota and Vanya probably deserved happiness more than any of the main characters. Chuck, the one who deserves it the least, is trying to make amends with Blair after he pimped her out to his uncle in order to keep his hotel.

He wants to prove to Blair that he’s a good guy, so he throws an elaborate wedding for Dorota and Vanya. He and Blair proceed to make her loved one’s special day all about them. Everyone looks great, Blair dumps Chuck, and what may arguably be the first Dan-Blair seeds are planted.

1 Cyrus and Eleanor

Eleanor pulls focus from Bart’s funeral with her small, intimate wedding to Cyrus. Everyone looks great dressed in all white, and the wedding offers a small bit of joy in an episode that’s otherwise all about Chuck’s downward spiral. Speaking of Chuck, the tortured soul somehow sneaks past the wedding party and into Blair’s room where he finally lets her comfort him before sneaking out while she’s asleep. It’s peak Chuck and Blair angst.
