In 2013, WWE entered the reality television world with Total Divas, which focused on the personal lives of the women of the company. At the forefront of that series were Nikki and Brie, the Bella Twins. They became so popular that they got their own spin-off series, Total Bellas.

This iteration centering on only two women allowed the episodes to be more focused and tell important stories about their family life and their bond as sisters. Total Bellas saw the ladies have children, retire from competition, move into the next phase of their lives, and more, often with mixed results from an entertainment standpoint.

6 Season 3 (6.3)

One of the biggest selling points for casual wrestling fans, when Total Bellas launched, was the connection the twins had to two of the top stars in the industry. Brie Bella is married to Daniel Bryan, while Nikki Bella was dating John Cena. Season 3 actually marked the final time that Cena was a main cast member before the two split up.

This season saw the couple preparing for their planned nuptials, including things like a bachelorette party. The issue was that by the time these episodes aired, the viewers already knew that Cena and Nikki had called off the wedding, so it was difficult to get invested in the storyline. A highlight of the season was seeing Bryan and the Bella Twins make their long-awaited returns to the ring, even if it was just for a single match.

5 Season 2 (6.9)

It turns out that WrestleMania 33 weekend was a huge one for both Nikki and Brie. That was the focus of the season 2 finale, “Bella-Mania” as both ladies experienced life milestones around the time of the epic show. First, Brie went into a dramatic labor that took several hours, before giving birth to Birdie ahead of the show. That capped a season-long storyline surrounding her pregnancy.

Meanwhile, Nikki Bella had spent most of Total Divas and season 1 of Total Bellas trying to get John Cena to marry her, despite his feelings against tying the knot. That all led to this season 2 finale, where Cena popped the question in the middle of the ring in front of 75,000 fans. There were odd funny moments this season that worked like seeing Bryan use a pregnancy simulator and a prank war between siblings.

4 Season 4 (7.0)

As noted, the break-up of John Cena and Nikki Bella really changed the dynamic of the series. Season 4 was so different that they weren’t even allowed to say Cena’s name, instead just referring to him as Nikki’s ex. Alas, audiences got to see her start a new romance with Artem Chigvintsev, her partner when she was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars.

This season also saw the Bellas work to get back into the ring. Nikki was able to make that her priority without a wedding to plan, while Brie was shown getting back into ring shape after retirement and giving birth. The ladies also got the chance to take part in the historic first all women’s pay-per-view in WWE history, while dealing with a fashion show for their clothing line, social media backlash after an injury, and working alongside UFC megastar Ronda Rousey.

3 Season 5 (7.1)

The Bella Twins seem to do a little bit of everything these days. They started as models, became pro wrestlers, and are now full-on entrepreneurs who have everything from a clothing line to a wine brand and more. Season 5 saw them branch out even more, giving audiences a peek into how they got their podcast started as well.

On top of all of that, they also wrote their autobiography, which led to a lot of family drama and secrets being revealed that nobody was aware of. There were also high alert storylines like Brie and Bryan dealing with a break-in and Nikki feuding with JJ over her preference of niece. The season wrapped on a positive note with both Brie and Nikki getting pregnant at the same time.

2 Season 6 (7.2)

It’s pretty typical for television shows, especially reality ones, to dip in quality over the years. However, Total Bellas had one of its best strings of episodes with its most recent season, which wrapped in early 2021. This continued the arc of the girls dealing with the release of their book and how that changed various things once all of their secrets were out in the open.

With both women ending the prior season pregnant at the same time, season 6 showcased how they handled that process. That included Nikki being annoyed that Brie acted like an expert on pregnancy. They eventually both gave birth, having their babies Matteo and Buddy just one day apart, which is fitting for twins.

1 Season 1 (7.3)

Sometimes, it’s hard to top the original and that’s the case here as season 1 still ranks as the best, even if it’s only by a little bit. Right off the bat, this was memorable as Bryan and Brie moved into Nikki and John’s house (along with other family members), giving viewers a look at the overly strict rules that Cena had for his home.

One thing that helped this season was the shorter episode count, with only six installments. That meant things could be focused and there was little to no filler, with most storylines mattering. As is often the case with one of these WWE shows on E!, it ended with a wedding as Nikki and Brie’s mother Kathy got married to John Laurinaitis. The people featured in these episodes are the ones fans seemed to like the most.
