The Frozen franchise has got it all. Drama, comedy, impeccable music performances, and visually stunning scenes. It’s no wonder it’s such a worldwide success and two of Disney’s most beautiful animated features. If one is a fan of the winter scenery, they might think so too.

There are so many stunning moments in the two movies that it’s hard to even pinpoint one. Those who are in charge of creating the graphics for the ice, water, fire, and nature deserve all the credit for making the franchise so visually appealing. Just look at these for example…

10 Frozen: The Ice Palace Scene

In the first movie, after Anna accidentally makes her sister reveal she has powers to the whole Arendelle, Elsa runs away and hides in the North Mountain. That’s when she lets go of everything that has been holding her back and tests out the full range of her powers. Her first endeavor is to build a new home as a self-exiled Queen, which is an isolated palace.

The structure is incredibly stunning. It’s completely made of ice, at the top of the mountain, and it’s tall and edgy. Because it’s also translucid, it reflects the sunlight and creates a whole spectrum of colors. If Disney’s artists wanted to mesmerize the viewers, they did a great job. It’s the first visually remarkable scene in the franchise…

9 Frozen: Elsa’s Lack Of Self-Control

After getting to the palace, Anna tries to convince Elsa to return to Arendelle. However, since she was worried she couldn’t control her powers, the Queen denies the request and kicks her sister out. Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff then move on to fix their newest crisis – Anna with her imminent frozen heart and Elsa with her self-control. And her palace reflects her exact mindset.

The colors change, the walls break. Red and purple lights turn the light blue palace into an unwelcoming abode, possibly a metaphor for Anna’s heart turning from red to blue as it freezes. Meanwhile, ice grows, keeping everyone out and Elsa in. The moment is overwhelming, the story approaches a crisis, and the visual appeal works to add to the momentum. It’s intense but still beautiful.

8 Frozen II: The Enchanted Forest

The heroes enter the Enchanted Forest to find the Northuldra people and whoever has been calling Elsa. And they are immediately amazed by what they see. This is a breathtaking moment in the second movie, and one of the few times viewers get to see the cold region in a different season.

Autumn paints the forest and trees in multiples shades of pink, orange, and burgundy. The flora is diverse, and the place looks untouched by humankind, preserved, natural, stunning Elsa. Considering her origins, the environment clearly speaks to her heart. And that’s probably why it was so important for the filmmakers to create this visually idyllic place that evokes peace and calm.

7 Frozen II: The Sisters Reunion Scene

At the end of Frozen II, Anna is overwhelmed by a bittersweet feeling. She was able to destroy the den and help free the forest from the curse. But she believes she has lost her sister, and her good companion Olaf, in the process. Thankfully, they both come back safe and sound, in time for the happy ending.

In the scene where Elsa returns to Anna, fans see Elsa riding Nokk through the sea on the horizon. She wears her new white dress and loose hair, two symbols of her newfound freedom and role. The sun shines and the multiple shades of white, blue, and gray symbolize the peace within the sisters’ minds, now that they know that each other and Arendelle are safe.

6 Frozen II: Into The Unknown Scene

At the beginning of the second movie, Elsa leaves the castle in the middle of the night to confront the unknown voice calling her. During the song “Into The Unknown,” she decides to stop fighting this intense force and go after what seems to be her destiny.

This whole scene is visually stunning and incredibly well-done. The castle at night, the snow that originates from her powers, the images Elsa unconsciously creates with the ice, the snowflake diamonds. This contrasts well with the black background and the trees that form from Elsa’s powers. The iconic final shot of the scene when ice diamonds form to represent the 4 elements.

5 Frozen: The Frozen Heart Scene

It’s no surprise that the climax scene in the first Frozen movie had to be visually alluring. And even though it’s sad and tense to watch as Anna sacrifices herself to save Elsa, the whole sequence does look stunning.

The snowstorm created the haze that made it harder for the characters to find each other but it also gave the scenery a lot of texture. The frozen shipwrecks in the ice-struck fjord add to the beauty, especially as it contrasts between the white background, Elsa’s light blue clothes, and Anna’s frozen body.

4 Frozen II: The Scene With Nokk

After meeting the fire and the air spirits, it’s time Elsa meets Nokk, the horse-shaped element of water. Like the others, he’s not very happy and gives Elsa a hard time. But eventually, she’s able to tame it and together they go to the frozen Ahtohallan river.

Elsa and Nokk battle under the dark ocean water, and both Elsa’s powers and Nokk’s shape shine bright. Even though his terrible plan is to drown Elsa, the scene did allow the Disney artists to create stunning imagery. Highlights would be when Elsa freezes Nokk underwater and the light-up horse rein she created.

3 Frozen II: The Scene When Elsa Finds Out The Truth

After Elsa finds out where she stands in the spirit elements’ dynamic, she also learns an uncomfortable truth: her grandfather’s fear of magic led him to betray the Northuldra people and curse the enchanted Forest. The scene might be hard on the heart, but it’s extremely pleasant on the eyes.

As the mood changes from a happy, self-discovery to the past’s hard reality, so does the background color. The colorful, magical ice gives place to a pitch-black surrounding. The scenes and the characters played in the water memory are made of a blue, pink, and purple ombré light. The gradient colors get to a darker shade of blue as Elsa freezes, and even though it’s sad, viewers can’t stop looking.

2 Frozen: The Frozen Forest Scene

When Anna and Kristoff set off on their journey to find Elsa at the North Mountain in the original Frozen, they find out the whole kingdom is completely frozen, including the forest, even though it’s the middle of Summer. However, the scenery does impress the two future lovers, and even Sven enjoys the frozen vines.

The location was clearly carefully crafted by Disney Animation artists, especially because it carries a significant symbolism. If ice can be beautiful then so can Elsa’s powers. The frozen waterfalls, the snow accumulated on top of hills and trees, and the frozen vines that look like Christmas lights make the place special.

1 Most Visually Stunning Scene: Elsa Is The Fifth Element

The Frozen II movie’s apex is when Elsa discovers her true self: she is the fifth spirit element, together with Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. It’s an epic moment for the character, and the scene had to be equally dazzling. Luckily, Disney knows how to deliver.

This scene is the most stunning moment in the franchise. Elsa’s ballet of colors and moves insert the viewer into the magnificent place she finally reached: being true to who she is. It’s hard to point out what is more beautiful in the full sequence: the ice lightening up, the elements forming a snowflake, the cascade of ice revealing the memories, or Elsa finally blasting her powers to the max.
