Genshin Impact rounded off an incredibly successful year by taking home Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2021. During the awards show, miHoYo revealed a gameplay trailer, including playable characters that are coming to the game soon. Most notably, at the end of the trailer, fans were treated to a new look at Yun Jin, a character expected to be released in Genshin Impact’s 2.4 update. However, the trailer shown during The Game Awards 2021 was the first official video released of the character by miHoYo.

The Genshin Impact gameplay trailer at The Game Awards 2021 focused on Arataki Itto, a character confirmed for release in the second phase of the Genshin Impact’s 2.3 update, anticipated for December 14, shortly after The Game Awards 2021 aired. Here are all the characters that appeared during the Genshin Impact Arataki Itto gameplay trailer, in order of appearance, alongside their elemental mastery:

While Yoimiya and Kokomi were added to the game as playable characters earlier this year, in Genshin Impact’s 2.0 and 2.1 updates, the rest of the characters included in the gameplay trailer have yet to be released. Itto and Gorou are confirmed to appear on the same Banner during phase two of the 2.3 update, after Albedo’s “Shadows Amidst Snowstorms” event ends. Yun Jin is estimated to be released as part of Genshin Impact’s 2.4 update, no sooner than January of next year. While Kokomi’s Banner only ended a couple of months ago, fans have eagerly awaited a rerun of Yoimiya’s “Tapestry of Golden Flames” Banner, which ran from August 10 to August 31, 2021.

Genshin Impact: New Character Reveals At The Game Awards 2021

In The Game Awards 2021’s Genshin Impact trailer, after each character is introduced with lines of dialogue, viewers see Kokomi, Yoimiya, Itto, and Gorou battle it out with the Golden Wolflord, a Normal Boss in Genshin Impact located in the southern peninsula of Tsurumi Island. Geo attacks are especially effective against the Golden Wolflord, giving Gorou and Arataki Itto their chance to shine, with Itto dealing the last devastating blow, defeating the Golden Wolflord. Itto declares, “Arataki Numero Uno Itto, here in the flesh” before laughing as the video fades to black. This appeared to be the end of the video but, with just seconds remaining, miHoYo saved the most exciting reveal for last.

Out of all the characters featured, fans were arguably most excited to see Yun Jin at the end of Genshin Impact’s latest video, as this was the first time miHoYo had shared a video of her character. The first glimpse of Yun Jin shows her from behind, a silhouette dancing as Liyue appears in the background. Slowly, she turns toward the audience as the music plays and the camera pans closer to her face. She never turns around fully, but a close-up of her side profile is shown before the camera flickers at the video once again fades to black. The video was touted online as “Genshin Impact – Yun Jin Gameplay Reveal Trailer;” however, commenters swiftly pointed out that while Yun Jin appeared in the video, the video didn’t show any of her gameplay. Genshin Impact continues to flourish and build on its success, even benefitting from leaks as a way to drum up excitement for future updates. The gameplay trailer revealed during The Game Awards 2021 had the desired effect: the video on the official Genshin Impact YouTube channel amassed over a million views in the first day it was uploaded, with the comment section filled with anticipation for Yun Jin’s release. While fans may have to wait until January 2022 to see Yun Jin in-game, Genshin Impact’s Arataki Itto and Gorou’s Banner will be available to players in just a few days’ time. Fans hope Kokomi and Yoimiya’s inclusion in the gameplay trailer may hint that a rerun of their Banners is coming; however, with many other characters due reruns also, this may not become a reality any time soon.
