At the height of its popularity, Glee produced hit after hit. Three of their songs even reached the Top 10 in the Billboard Hot 100, and one made it to #3. It seemed like every famous song or singer would eventually find their way to the show, and Gleeks enjoyed playing the guessing game, wondering who among the cast would sing which song.

The show ended in 2015, after six years of phenomenal musical numbers. Since then, whenever a new Lady Gaga or Ariana Grande song comes out, Gleeks keep playing the guessing game. There are some songs that Glee would’ve absolutely covered, no questions asked. Fans may never know how these covers would sound, but they at least can guess who would sing them.

10 “Rain On Me” By Lady Gaga Feat. Ariana Grande, Sung By Rachel & Mercedes

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s mega-hit would’ve made its way to the show sooner rather than later. And who better to cover it than Glee’s two greatest divas, Rachel and Mercedes? Their voices complemented each other beautifully, and the song’s themes of resilience fit both characters perfectly.

It’s a shame that fans only ever got one proper Rachel and Mercedes duet, season 2’s “Take Me or Leave Me.” “Rain on Me” would be the perfect song for both of them, with Mercedes taking over Gaga’s verses and Rachel assuming Ariana’s softer parts.

9 “Shape Of You” By Ed Sheeran, Sung By Artie & Sam

In the winter of 2017, “Shape of You” was huge. The song was everywhere, whether it was at a club or on the speakers at Target. Ed Sheeran’s contagious tune seemed inescapable, eventually becoming the best performing song of 2017 at the Billboard Hot 100.

“Shape of You” would be a good choice for the Dalton Academy Warblers. However, regular cast members, Artie and Sam, would also do the song justice. The former’s more soulful voice would blend perfectly with the latter’s boy-band baritone, as evidenced by their duets on the show, “Fire and Rain” and “Werewolves of London.”

8 “Havana” By Camila Cabello, Sung By The Unholy Trinity

Although Camila Cabello’s “Havana” came out in October 2017, it reached the height of its popularity in 2018. Glee would’ve covered it in what would’ve been its ninth season, somewhere around September 2019.

“Havana” would’ve been an excellent choice for Glee’s resident bad girls, Quinn, Santana, and Brittany. It’s an utter sin that fans only ever got two Unholy Trinity numbers in which all three sang. This pop hit would allow each of their voices to stand out on their own and let them show off their dancing skills.

7 “Closer” By The Chainsmokers Feat. Halsey, Sung By Kurt & Blaine

Kurt and Blaine are a fan-favorite couple, but they went through their fair share of drama. The show ends with them about to welcome a baby, seemingly achieving the happy ending they always wanted. However, any real Gleek knows their dynamic is volatile, and it wouldn’t come as a surprise if something went wrong with their marriage.

“Closer,” by the Chainsmokers featuring Halsey, was a huge hit in the summer of 2016. Kurt and Blaine would probably sing it during their trial separation in season 7, as the former stayed in New York and the latter moved to Los Angeles.

6 “7 Rings” By Ariana Grande, Sung By Brittany & Santana

Ariana Grande released “7 Rings” in January 2019 as the second single from her album, Thank U, Next. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song channels the melody of The Sound of Music’s “My Favorite Things,” and the lyrics deal with themes of friendships, intimacy, and materialism.

“7 Rings” would fit Brittany and Santana perfectly. The two would dominate the trap-pop mix of the tune while capturing its overall essence. The lyrics also fit their storylines perfectly, as they always enjoyed the finer things in life.

5 “Shallow” By Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper, Sung By Rachel & Blaine

“Shallow,” the anthemic, Oscar-winning song from 2018’s A Star is Born, has Rachel and Blaine written all over it. In fact, Lea Michele and Darren Criss had it into their setlist during their 2018 LM/DC Tour with great success.

“Shallow” wouldn’t have needed a reason to be performed. However, the writers would’ve found a way to incorporate it into the story. Perhaps the movie becomes a Broadway musical with Rachel and Blaine as the leads? Blaine might be too young for the male lead, but stranger things happened in Glee.

4 “Juice” By Lizzo, Sung By Mercedes & Tina

Tina Cohen-Chang was a part of Glee from the pilot episode. However, she never got the chance to be in the spotlight. Whenever she got to sing, though, she proved that her voice was just as good as any other in the show. Her duets with Mercedes, especially, remain some of the strongest in the show’s history, with “Dog Days Are Over” as the standout.

“Juice” by Lizzo would be an incredible song for these two to sing. It would be a fun, energetic number that Tina and Mercedes would knock out of the park. Lizzo could also make a guest appearance.

3 “Bad Guy” By Billie Eilish, Sung By Quinn

There’s no way “Bad Guy” wouldn’t be covered by the show if it was still airing. The song was a monster hit in 2019, reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and winning Grammy Awards for Record and Song of the Year.

In reality, Santana or even Rachel would’ve probably covered “Bad Guy.” However, it’s undeniable that Quinn’s voice would be ideal for the song. Quinn never got the same attention as some of the other female characters, that’s true, but her voice goes so great with the song that the writers would’ve probably asked her back just so she could sing the song.

2 “Lover” By Taylor Swift, Sung By Rachel

In reality, any Taylor Swift song from her Reputation or Lover era would’ve felt right at home in Glee. However, this soft, heartfelt, romantic tune would be the most welcome inclusion. “Lover” was a huge hit for Swift, with critics praising her nostalgic yet whimsical lyrics.

“Lover” is an indie-folk ballad that would fit Rachel’s voice to a tee. The character excelled at singing ballads, and she would give a beautiful rendition of the song that would please both Taylor’s fans and the Gleeks that watched the show week after week.

1 “Can’t Stop The Feeling!” By Justin Timberlake, Sung By New Directions

Justin Timberlake released his disco-pop song “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” in March 2016. The song acted as the lead single for the soundtrack of the animated movie Trolls. “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” was Timberlake’s biggest song in a long time, eventually becoming the best performing song of 2016. It also earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.

This tune, with its infectiously positive lyrics and contagious beat, would be an excellent group number. New Directions’ members, past and present, would come together in one great song-and-dance number, celebrating life, love, and of course, music.
