It retells the events of the Dragon Ball Z anime from beginning to end and features Goku along with other fan-favorite characters such as Gohan and Vegeta. It also includes the many epic battles that the series is well-known for.

Players play through the entire DBZ saga, including the iconic Frieza and Cell sagas. The final DBZ story arc, the Kid Buu saga, tasks players with battling the titular Majin villain utilizing both Goku and Vegeta. Unlock The Kid Buu Saga in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

Before players can battle Kid Buu, they first need to unlock the Kid Buu story arc. The solution is pretty straightforward: progress through the main story campaign.

The campaign takes around 40 hours to complete. This can take longer if players wish to do the side quests or other activities the game offers. Players do not need to rush their experience if they want to explore all that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has to offer.

How Players Can Defeat Buu in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

Kid Buu is a very tough boss to defeat unless players can learn & memorize his attack patterns. Players will battle Buu four times with Goku and Vegeta going against the villain twice each. The order is as follows: Goku, Vegeta, Vegeta again, and Goku again.

During each of the four fights, Buu’s fighting style will largely remain the same. The two main points to emphasize are burst damage and evasion.

One of Buu’s attack phases is after he says “gya gya,” he will unleash a barrage of energy blasts that ends with his Planet Burst attack and players will need to evade his attacks at all times. Players should Super Boost away when Planet Burst hits.

After “gya gya,” Buu will be exhausted and open to attack. Players should utilize this moment to deal as much high burst damage as possible.

Aside from “gya gya,” all of Buu’s other attacks should be avoided as best as possible. Players will be able to pick up on these attacks by analyzing Buu’s fighting and attack warnings. Candy Beam, for example, is very easy to dodge if players are on their toes.

Players also need to deal incredible burst damage to Buu whenever there’s an opening. Buu will be vulnerable after his attacks so players need to be on the lookout for an opening.

Facing Kid Buu as Goku in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

The first players do battle with Kid Buu they will utilize Super Saiyan 3 Goku. Goku in this form is very powerful enough to hold his own against Buu.

When facing Buu for the first time as Goku, players should utilize Rock attacks as they deal high volumes of damage. They also stun Buu, leaving him open to more attacks.

One recommended move is doing multiple melee attacks and ending with Meteor Smash. These same tips apply when players battle for the second battle using Goku, which is also the fourth and last battle against Buu.

Additionally, when Buu is charging for his version of the Kamehameha, if they have enough Ki, players should go on the offensive with two Scissors Paper Rock attacks to do significant damage and cancel out Buu’s Kamehameha.

Facing Kid Buu as Vegeta in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

When using Vegeta for the second and third battles against Buu, it is important to note he is not as powerful as Goku. Like his fights with Goku, Buu will utilize the same consistent fighting style during both sparing matches with Vegeta.

While Vegeta does not have the same level of power & attacks as Goku, he is still able to seriously damage Buu. The best attack to use while playing as Vegeta is Massive Strike because it creates major damage and leads to the chance for follow-up damage combos.
