How to Find The New Maple Leaf DIY Recipes in Animal Crossing

Arguably some of the best parts of Animal Crossing: New Horizons are the seasonal events, crafting materials, and DIY recipes that appear at various times of the year. Since the very first game in the franchise, Animal Crossing has had a real-time gameplay mechanic, meaning the in-game clock and calendar mirror the player’s real-life clock and calendar. As the seasons change and holidays come around, players can enjoy special festivities exclusive to that time of year to celebrate in the game just as they do in real life. During November, players in the Northern hemisphere can gather autumn seasonal crafting materials like Mushrooms and Maple Leaves to craft special DIY recipes they won’t find any other time of year.

Players can only collect Maple Leaves for a limited time, from November 16 until November 26. During this time, they can also find and collect autumn seasonal DIY recipes for items in the Maple Leaf set. There are two ways players can get more of these recipes. The first is by listening to the morning announcements each day. The second is by popping the flying balloon presents floating around the island. Here’s how to find and collect all the Maple Leaf DIY Recipes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Players can get one of the recipes from Isabelle after a special morning announcement about Maple Leaf season and recipes. This announcement appears to trigger only if players don’t have other villagers moving in, new buildings opening, or notable events taking place. During the announcement, Isabelle will send the Red Leaf Pile decorative item recipe to the DIY Recipes app on the player’s NookPhone.

At the time of writing, the only other way to get the remaining Maple Leaf DIY Recipes to complete the set is by popping the flying balloon presents around the island. During the ten days, players can find Maple Leaves on the island, many of the balloons floating overhead will randomly contain a seasonal DIY recipe. Players will not be able to control exactly which they get, and it is common to get duplicates.

To pop the balloons, players will want to make sure they have a slingshot. They’ll also want to try to pop all the balloons they see to increase the number of gifts they open, which also increases their odds of receiving a new Maple Leaf recipe. Balloons have a chance to spawn every five minutes, starting at four minutes past the hour. While they won’t always spawn, players should have a good chance within ten days of gathering all the recipes.

There are nine recipes that make up this exclusive set. The items in the set are:

If all else fails, players can also find friends to trade duplicate recipes with so they can complete their recipe collection and finish the Maple Leaf set. Maple Leaves can be stored all year long, so it is a good idea for players to collect as many as possible during the event, just in case they don’t find every recipe in the ten-day window.
