How to Get Bird Feathers in Grounded (& What They’re For)

Grounded has released its first update in August since being released, and it comes complete with new additions such as Crows and their feathers to craft new recipes. With Crows now being a part of the Grounded landscape, the Obsidian Entertainment team took the opportunity to bring them new enhancements. The latest enhancements include Perks, tables, fences, and more. The largest addition to Grounded, being the Crow, gives some exciting new recipes that are sure to make use of current mechanics while adding new ones.

Grounded’s core of being a survival game brings with it some different avenues that the game can explore. The survival aspect brings with it the ability to craft better pieces to either enhance the player’s base or their equipment. The new DLC focuses on these two aspects, and the Crow Feathers give recipes for both. The first recipe is the Marksman’s Cap, which is a tier 3 armor piece that enhances bow attacks. The second is the Feather Arrow, and when it’s paired with the Marksman’s Cap, and bow specific Perks like Sharpshooter can do more damage than regular arrows. The final recipe is the Feather Bed for use at the base.

How to Get Crow Feathers in Grounded

Crow Feathers are extremely rare in Grounded, and the costs for making the recipes attached to them are quite expensive. To find the feathers, knowing the best locations where the Crow lands are half the battle. To find the Crow, he’ll appear at four different places. The areas are the Bird Bath, the Picnic Table, The Lasers, and the fence on the east side of the map. When he flies off, or lands, at his spots, he’ll randomly drop a feather that tends to land on top of the grass. It also pays to look at both the ground and not just the tops of grass leaves in case it falls to the ground. The feathers might land a few steps away as well because it is a feather and will have a tendency to float away. Sometimes following the Crow as well can have a chance to have a feather drop. Follow it along its flight path to see if any feathers are laying anywhere it travels. The Ant Hill also seems to be a popular spot as well for having feathers because the ants seem to be collecting them. As for the Crow itself, there’s no way to attack it at the moment to make it drop its feathers. When a feather lands, the only way to recover its pieces is to take a Tier 2 Axe and wack away. A quick reminder that after hitting the feather a few times, a bag with the actual materials still has to be collected, or else the player won’t get the materials.
