Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland says the returning Jamie Foxx has one of the funniest scene in MCU history. The latest instalment in the MCU’s Spider-Man series comes highly anticipated, with pre-sales smashing recent records. Following on from Chloe Zhao’s Eternals, Spider-Man: No Way Home will be hitting theatres on December 17.
Spider-Man: No Way Home will be Holland’s sixth outing as the Webslinger, after also appearing in Captain America: Civil War and two Avengers films. The upcoming movie is the last in the MCU’s current Spider-Man trilogy, but it was recently announced that Holland will be returning for another three films after Spider-Man: No Way Home. The film is set to follow on from the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, which saw Peter Parker battle with Mysterio as he travelled across Europe and concluded with the public revealing of his identity.
Now, in a quote shared by Sony, Holland states that Foxx has a scene that fans won’t want to miss. After appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as Electro, Foxx will be reprising his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Similar to the animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the latest MCU Spider-Man film will be drawing from the multiverse theory and pulling in characters from previous versions of Spider-Man, including Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, Rhys Ifans’ Curt Connors, and Foxx’s Electro. Check out Holland’s comments about Foxx’s scene below:
Jamie Foxx has one of the funniest scenes in any Marvel movie in this film. And it is essentially taking the piss out of all superhero films and I love it. It’s excellent.
Foxx’s portrayal of Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was met with a divided response from fans, who criticised the character’s tone and his route to villainy. Foxx will now get to have a second shot at the character, and from the trailers, the Electro he will be playing in Spider-Man: No Way Home will be very different. Fans have praised Electro’s new design, and now with Holland’s comments will be looking forward to his scenes even more.
Long-term fans of the various Spider-Man films are especially excited for the upcoming project, because it’s speculated that the return of previous villains could also indicate the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of Spider-Man. While MCU architect Kevin Feige and Garfield have both denied that the superheroes will make a return, there have been plenty of hints and leaks that have suggested that the rumors could be right. Trailer footage and posters have made no mention of the other Spider-Men, however, so it’s likely that fans will have to wait until Spider-Man: No Way Home’s release, in a few weeks time, before they find out for certain.
