Kirby and the Forgotten Land How to Get the Meta Knight Sword

Kirby’s copy abilities in Kirby and the Forgotten Land can evolve twice, as long as players have the appropriate blueprint and enough of the Rare Stones found through Treasure Roads. Some blueprints are earned by defeating bosses, while others can be found hidden within levels. For the coveted Meta Knight Sword, players must defeat the Meta Knight Cup at the Colosseum.

The Meta Knight Sword is the second evolution of the Sword ability. The first is the Gigant Sword, and its blueprint can be found in Wondaria’s Circuit Speedway. The Meta Knight Sword lacks the defensive strength of the Gigant Sword’s shield, but it makes up for that with its great offensive capabilities. If Kirby has full health, the sword will send a powerful slicing cut through the air. However, before players can get the Meta Knight Sword blueprint, they have to complete the Meta Knight Cup for the first time.

Breaking Down the Meta Knight Cup

The Meta Knight Cup consists of six rounds. During the first three, players must face Forgotten Land’s first three bosses: Gorimondo of Natural Plains, Tropical Wood of Everbay Coast, and Clawroline of Wondaria Remains.

The second stage of the Meta Knight Cup has players face two sets of mini-bosses. These should prove no problem for players, especially since Kirby can heal between each round of the Cup using the Maxim Tomatoes provided in the lobby area where Kirby returns after each fight.

As an added touch, the battles in the Colosseum are timed, so players can keep retrying the cup for better times. Using speed or attack boosts, which can be purchased in Waddle Dee Town or acquired through use of amiibo, can help players achieve low times.

Breaking Down the Fight Against Meta Knight

The final fight of the Meta Knight Cup has players face off against the eponymous character. Meta Knight is a quick attacker, but players will find plenty of openings to land blows. During the first stage of this fight, Meta Knight will alternate between attacking from a distance or getting close to Kirby to land direct blows.

Once Meta Knight’s health has reached the halfway point, his attacks will get far more interesting. Sometimes the action on-screen will enter a top-down view when Meta Knight jumps into the air. Shadows will appear over the colosseum grounds, and Kirby will need to stand in a light area to avoid having boulders dropped onto him.

Meta Knight will also hover in the air before jamming his sword into the ground, usually trying to land on Kirby, and will send out blast waves that partially hone in on Kirby. Finally, Meta Knight and Kirby may lock weapons, and players will have to successfully complete an onscreen button prompt to push Meta Knight back. Successfully defeating Meta Knight for the first time will earn players the Meta Knight Sword blueprint, giving them an edge in future fights.
