The Lincoln Lawyer TV adaptation casts Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and will premiere on Netflix. Helmed by crime drama mastermind David E. Kelly, the Lincoln Lawyer series was initially slated to air last year on CBS. Based on Michael Connelly’s novel, Lincoln Lawyer gained popularity when an adaptation starring Matthew McConaughey hit the big screen in 2011. Now, it appears the titular lawyer has found a new parking spot for his Lincoln town car.

Per Variety, the Lincoln Lawyer series has tapped Garcia-Rulfo to portray Mickey Haller and moves to Netflix with a series order. Best known for his work in Goliath and The Magnificent Seven, Garcia-Rulfo will tackle the role of Mickey. This iconoclastic idealist runs his law practice out of his Lincoln town car’s back seat in the streets of Los Angeles. Hailing from Kelley and showrunner Ted Humphrey, season 1 of Lincoln Lawyer will be based on the second book of Connelly’s series, The Brass Verdict, and will consist of 10 one-hour episodes.

Speaking on his excitement to see Garcia-Rulfo bring the smooth-talking, intricate, and Latinx-rooted lawyer to life, Kelley stated, “I’m thrilled to call Netflix our home, and I’m excited to bring this rich, multilayered story filled with intriguing characters and mysteries to solve to millions of viewers – both old and new fans – around the world.” Of course, the casting of Garcia-Rulfo means the series will stay true to the character presented in Connelly’s novels and has heightened the anticipation for the arrival of the new iteration of Lincoln Lawyer.
