As of late, Miles Morales has been mashing-up his identity with many heroes, but now the Marvel hero is putting a twist on Ultron. A new variant cover involving Devil’s Reign shows this Spider-Man in a robotic and villainous iteration. From Captain America to Venom, Miles Morales always finds a way to make each identity his own – even if it belongs to a character that has been established longer.

Devil’s Reign is an upcoming Marvel Comics event starring Daredevil and the Avengers. It will revolve around these heroes’ attempt to take down Kingpin during his latest – and biggest – scheme. As part of the event, Marvel is releasing Devil’s Reign villain variants. One included title is Miles Morales: Spider-Man #33, which has the creative team of Saladin Ahmed, Michele Bandini, Guru-eFX, and Cory Petit.

On Twitter, comic artist InHyuk Lee shared the cover for Miles Morales: Spider-Man #33. Miles is currently involved with the Spider-Man Beyond era that recently began. However, he has also been seen quite frequently in mash-up cover art, as well as combined with the anti-hero Venom in Dark Ages. His latest villainous twist combines his traditional color scheme and suit with Ultron’s robotic body. Check the cover out in the Tweet here:

Even though Miles has his hands full with the Beyond Corporation, he has been seen in the preview for Devil’s Reign #1. That issue – from Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto – features Miles being arrested before the Avengers intervene. The Devil’s Reign preview shows him in his new suit, which debuted within the last few months in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #30 to commemorate his tenth anniversary. While his new suit is the one used in his current adventures, he is still best known for his iconic, classic suit – as seen in this variant. Fans have been hesitant to see Miles Morales’ classic suit leave, even if the change will be temporary. However, there is still a chance that it will return in future variants, the way it has here.

Marvel hero and villain mash-ups are some of the most fun what if questions to wonder about. Heroes can be villains, while villains can become heroes. Often times a single choice can lead a comic character down an entirely different path. One can’t help but wonder how exactly Miles and Ultron would find themselves in a position where their identities would merge into a completely new one. Furthermore, would this version blend their abilities or would it retain Ultron’s abilities and simply have Miles’ look? Fans can check out this webbed hero’s newest adventure – and his villainous cover transformation – when Marvel Comics’ Miles Morales: Spider-Man #33 releases December 22.
