MCU 10 Most Charismatic Villains

When you think of the very best villains in the business, charisma is usually one of their traits. And that’s no different in the MCU with the Avengers often pitted against foes just as entertaining and slick as themselves.

We now take a look at the 10 villains who just ooze personality and charm, whether they’re in the best movies of the franchise or not. Starting with somebody who fans will certainly agree should be on the list…

10 Loki

MCU 10 Most Charismatic Villains

Tom Hiddleston actually auditioned to play Thor before ultimately being given the role of Loki instead and, while we think he would have made a superb God of Thunder, we’re glad that was the case. And that’s because he’s helped make the villainn one of the most-entertaining characters within the MCU and, despite his bad antics, one of the most-popular too.

Loki has appeared in 10 blockbusters to date, starting with 2011’s Thor. The character is getting his own series on Disney+ which will hit the small screen next year.

9 Yellowjacket

MCU 10 Most Charismatic Villains

The first Ant-Man movie isn’t necessarily one of the most-memorable within the franchise – but the character of Yellowjacket is one of the highlights. Obsessed with bettering Hank Pym, he stops at nothing in order to achieve his evil aims.

And the pleasure he takes from killing innocent people is chilling. He seems to genuinely enjoy being evil and possesses a fair amount of sass, too, particularly when he attempts to murder Scott Laing’s daughter towards the end.

8 Justin Hammer

MCU 10 Most Charismatic Villains

Iron Man 2 is regarded as one of the worst movies within the series, with few taking to the plot and decision to cast Mickey Rourke as Ivan Vanko. However, while Vanko is a big disappointment, the same can’t be said for Sam Rockwell’s Justin Hammer.

Hammer is cocky, confident, and self-assured, convinced that he’ll beat Iron Man. He takes great pleasure in inflicting his evil upon the world. In the end he’s stopped, though, with the former CEO of Stark Industries incarcerated at Seagate Penitentiary.

7 Ulysses Klaue

MCU 10 Most Charismatic Villains

Ulysses Klaue makes two appearances in the MCU and isn’t the main villain in either Avengers: Age of Ultron or Black Panther. But, despite the short amount of screen time the character receives, Andy Serkis’ performance means the crook makes a lasting impression.

Klaue is confident enough to stand up to Ultron, despite being significantly smaller than his enemy, and also has the courage to engage Black Panther himself in battle. He’s eventually killed by Erik Killmonger. And, speaking of…

6 Erik Killmonger

MCU 10 Most Charismatic Villains

From his very first scene, fans learn that Erik Killmonger is a villain as charismatic as he is bad. He takes great pleasure in committing crimes, fueled with rage from the fact that his father was murdered at a young age and he was denied a shot at being King of Wakanda.

Killmonger is one of those characters just born to do bad things and he stays villainous right up until his death. It’s a shame he does die, though, because many would love to see Michael B. Jordan reprise his role again in the future.

5 Ultron

MCU 10 Most Charismatic Villains

Ultron doesn’t look like much from the outside, looking like your standard, everyday cyborg. But, inside, he’s chillingly evil. And, despite being more machine than man, he also possesses charisma in abundance.

The villain, voiced by James Spader, has the same sort of arrogant personality that everybody finds so endearing in Tony Stark. But, unlike Stark most of the time, he doesn’t emerge victorious. He has his heart ripped out by Black Widow and is then polished off for good by Vision.

4 Hela

MCU 10 Most Charismatic Villains

If your brothers include Thor and Loki, you’re not exactly going to be boring. And Hela is the exact opposite of boring, with the self-proclaimed Goddess of Evil more than living up to her family name.

She’s sassy all throughout her time in charge of Asgard and, like many of the other bad guys and girls on this list, seems to enjoy every minute of her time with power. She’s also difficult to defeat, too, with Thor and Loki only just about succeeding in taking their sister down.

3 Vulture

MCU 10 Most Charismatic Villains

Michael Keaton was a good Batman back in the day – and he makes a superb villain in the form of Adrian Toomes, AKA Vulture. He’s a character driven by revenge, determined to get his own back on Tony Stark after loads of valuable alien technology was taken away from him.

Toomes has a sense of humor, too. He warns Peter Parker about interfering in his affairs and seems amused when he finds out Peter’s dating his daughter, Liz. We’re hoping to see more of the character in the MCU further down the line.

2 Thanos

MCU 10 Most Charismatic Villains

You knew the Mad Titan was going to make this list, right? Thanos is far more charismatic in Infinity War than he is in Endgame but we certainly still feel he’s worth including.

He can crack jokes, he can be sarcastic, he can be straightforward. Basically he’s got a range of traits and he’s weirdly charming for a man so keen on mass genocide and hurting others. The younger version seen in Endgame is less so but, what he lacks in charisma in that blockbuster, he makes up for in bloodythirsty instincts. So we can’t complain too much…

1 Ebony Maw

Ebony Maw is a cool villain. He’s capable of going toe to toe with the likes of Iron Man and Doctor Strange – and that’s no mean feat when you consider how powerful those heroes are.

The Maw’s death is appropriate for his character, dying while Peter Parker makes a joke. He returns in Endgame but, like Thanos, is slightly more focused on the task at hand.
