Megan Thee Stallion Drops Good News Album Addresses Tory Lanez in Song

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion released her debut album Good News on Friday and used the album’s intro song to address her alleged shooting incident with rapper Tory Lanez. The Legendary judge’s response to Tory comes after he called her out on his DAYSTAR album and denied shooting her back in July.

Megan and Tory have sent hip hop fans into a whirlwind with their song and live stream references to each other following their violent encounter. Tory was arrested in July and recently charged with felony assault charges for his involvement in Megan reportedly being shot in her feet. The “SAVAGE” rapper was sent to the hospital where she is said to have had bullet fragments removed from her foot. There was speculation about Tory being her alleged shooter; however at the time, neither rapper confirmed or denied the reports. A few weeks after the incident, Megan took to Instagram Live to call Tory out as her shooter. He remained silent up until he released his DAYSTAR album last month denying Megan’s claims.

Now, Megan appears to have responded to Tory’s claims that he didn’t harm her. Once the album released late Thursday night, fans immediately took notice of the album’s intro track “Shots Fired.” In the song, Megan doesn’t name any names, but seemingly addresses the July shooting incident. “Imagine n—– lyin’ ’bout shootin’ a real b—- (Huh?) / Just to save face for rapper n—– you chill with / Imagine me givin’ a fu*k it was your f—– birthday (F— you) / You in your feelings, I just thought it was another Thursday,” Megan raps on the track, as noted by People. The lyric references Megan’s live stream where she named Tory as her shooter, the IG Live session was dated on Tory Lanez’ birthday.

At the time, Megan claimed the Toronto rapper claimed to have “suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me.” The new song samples Notorious B.I.G.’s infamous “Who Shot Ya” beat where the late rapper first dissed fellow rapper, Tupac Shakur. Using the beat in hip hop is a reference to having a serious issue with whoever is being called out on the song. In addition to “Shots Fired” the 17-track LP features collaborations with some top artists of today. Sza, Big Sean, City Girls, and Da Baby are a few of the names featured on the “WAP” rapper’s album debut.
