Fans have seen many powerful Uchiha on Naruto with the ability of the Mangekyo, so we’ve sifted through the strongest and weakest of them all.

The Mangekyo Sharingan is an evolved form of the Sharingan which can be awakened by a user upon experiencing great emotional trauma, usually triggered by the death of someone close to them.

This eye grants tremendous powers which usually come in two distinct abilities, one in each eye. Along with that, when awakened in both the eyes, the user of the Mangekyo Sharingan can also awaken the Susanoo, one of the strongest powers in Naruto. Fans have seen many powerful Uchiha with the ability of the Mangekyo and we’ve picked 5 strongest and 5 weakest of them all.

Updated August 17th, 2020 by Josh Davison: Despite being a legendarily powerful Kekkei Genkai power that is notoriously difficult to unlock by even the most skilled Uchiha, the Mangekyo Sharingan has actually been attained by several shinobi across the ninja world of Naruto. On top of that, it also seems that several of the shinobi who unlocked the Mangekyo Sharingan seemed to have wasted it. As such, we’ve expanded this list with an additional four entries to include two more of the weakest and two more of the strongest Mangekyo Sharingan users. 14 WEAKEST: Itachi’s Crow?

Yes, the crows summoned by Itachi Uchiha can extend his Mangekyo Sharingan ability. Naturally, this power is limited and is completely at the discretion of Itachi himself. However, it did allow him to trap Kakashi and Naruto in a genjutsu when they were trying to save Kazekage Gaara from Deidara and Sasori.

Furthermore, this ability to extend his Mangekyo Sharingan allowed Itachi to free himself from Kabuto’s control through the Edo Tensei.

13 STRONGEST: Shin Uchiha

Shin Uchiha is among the most powerful of Orochimaru’s experiments. He was given a Sharingan and the genetic material of Hashirama Senju by Orochimaru, and he became obsessed with the Uchiha Clan – which is why he took the Uchiha name.

He somehow forged a Mangekyo Sharingan for himself and was able to hold his own against admittedly weakened Naruto and Sasuke in Boruto. Shin’s Mangekyo gave him vast and precise telekinetic abilities that allowed him to skillfully use weapons from afar. He had plans to resurrect the Akatsuki before being killed by his own clones.

12 WEAKEST: Black Zetsu

The Black Zetsu was able to manifest a Mangekyo Sharingan by being fused to Obito Uchiha for a time. This gave him limited usage of Kamui that ultimately allowed Black Zetsu to teleport across vast distances.

His ability to use the Mangekyo didn’t last for too long, though Black Zetsu gained access to even greater power when melding with Kaguya.

11 STRONGEST: Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki

Hagoromo is the fabled Sage of the Six Paths and head of the Ōtsutsuki Clan. His power is beyond legend, and Rinnegan, Sharingan, and Byakugan all stem from his bloodline.

The full extent of his Mangekyo Sharingan abilities are ultimately unknown, but we do know that he could manifest a full Susano’o. Plus, his legend implies that, whatever his Mangekyo Sharingan powers were, they were mighty impressive.

10 WEAKEST: Danzo

Danzo Shimura was one of the elders of the Leaf and the founder of the Root Anbu. He was quite a fearsome ninja who had also gained access to multiple Sharingan, including the Mangekyo Sharingan of Shisui Uchiha.

Danzo’s usage of this eye, however, wasn’t good at all. As explained by Madara, the eye is usually most efficient with the original user. Danzo, someone who wasn’t even an Uchiha, was thus a bad user of the powers.

9 STRONGEST: Madara Uchiha

Madara, along with Izuna, was the first Uchiha to awaken the powers of the Mangekyo Sharingan. In time, he made his eyes even stronger by transplanting his brother’s eyes into his, making his Mangekyo eternal in the process.

Madara’s Mangekyo Sharingan abilities remain unknown to date, for some reason. His only known power is the Full-body Susanoo which was strong enough to slice through mountain ranges with a casual slash.

8 WEAKEST: Fugaku Uchiha

The father of Sasuke and Itachi, Fugaku was the leader of the Uchiha clan prior to the Uchiha Clan Massacre. Although little was known about him initially, in Itachi’s story, he was revealed to have the Mangekyo Sharingan as well.

The abilities of his eyes remained unknown, however, it is known that his eye was powerful enough to control the Nine-tails, had he willed it.

7 STRONGEST: Obito Uchiha

Obito Uchiha was one of the strongest Uchiha to ever exist who awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan during the Third Great Ninja War after witnessing Rin die. Obito’s eye granted him the ability of Kamui, a powerful space-time ninjutsu.

Even with just one eye, Obito came to be known as an incredible threat to the entire world. At a very young age, he was strong enough to fight Minato Namikaze. Over the years, he gained tremendous control over this eye. Unfortunately, Obito couldn’t use this eye in the 10-Tails state, making it useless.

6 WEAKEST: Izuna Uchiha

Izuna was the brother of Madara Uchiha and one of the most powerful of the clan in history. Along with Madara, he was the first Uchiha to awaken the powers of the Mangekyo Sharingan, which he did by killing his best friend.

Unfortunately, the abilities of his eyes aren’t known to date, but he was skilled enough to rise to the top of the clan and fight evenly with Tobirama Senju. Ultimately, he fell in battle to his rival.

5 STRONGEST: Itachi Uchiha

Itachi Uchiha was one of the best Mangekyo Sharingan users, if not the best, in the series. He awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan after the death of Shusui Uchiha. Over the years, he trained it to a degree where he unlocked the powers of the Tsukuyomi and the Amaterasu.

Itachi Uchiha could also use the Susanoo to quite a decent extent and his Avatar wielded the power of the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror, making him invincible.

4 WEAKEST: Shisui Uchiha

Shisui was one of the very few Uchihas to be spared from the Curse of Hatred. Being thrown into war at quite a young age, Shisui Uchiha awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan before the age of 10, which is a massive feat.

His eyes granted the ability of Kotoamatsukami to him and using this power, he could cast a powerful genjutsu capable of manipulating others without them even realizing it. While the ability itself was powerful, Shisui failed to ever demonstrate its proper use. Furthermore, he lost this eye to Danzo, proving once again that he wasn’t as strong as some of the others.

3 STRONGEST: Indra Otsutsuki

Indra Otsutsuki was the elder son of Hagoromo and he inherited the visual prowess of his father. At some point, he awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan and trained it to a degree where he came to be known as the strongest.

Indra’s Mangekyo Sharingan abilities were unknown, however, he was capable of using a Fullbody Susanoo with just the Mangekyo Sharingan.

2 WEAKEST: Kakashi Hatake

Kakashi gained the Mangekyo Sharingan at the same time as Obito, upon witnessing the death of Rin Nohara. Years later, he gained access to the power of Kamui and mastered it.

Although a strong fighter, Kakashi not being a true Uchiha meant that he couldn’t use the eye properly. Just using it a few times often rendered him unable to move for days.

1 STRONGEST: Sasuke Uchiha

Undoubtedly, the strongest Uchiha of all-time, Sasuke gained the Mangekyo Sharingan after the death of Itachi Uchiha. His eyes granted him the power of Amaterasu and Flame Control.

Along with that, Sasuke also gained the ability to use Full-body Susanoo, making him extremely powerful. In time, his left eye evolved into a Rinnegan, grating him the ultimate power in the process.
