Issho, also known as Fujitora, is an Admiral of the Navy who was chosen as one of the replacements for the Admiral spots left open by Aokiji and Akainu. Picked through the World Military Draft, he joined the Navy at some point during the two-year time skip of One Piece. Being an Admiral, Fujitora is exceptionally powerful and was described as a monster by one of the Shichibukai, Donquixote Doflamingo.

Fujitora is one of the most important people in the One Piece world, especially due to his keen sense of justice. While not a lot about him has been revealed, there are intriguing things that Oda has mentioned about him already.

10 He Was Born In The Grand Line

Issho is a character most of whose past remains unknown in the story so far as he’s only been a part of one major arc of the story. However, it is known that he was born somewhere in the Grand Line 54 years ago.

Which island he was born on isn’t known, although some theories tie him down to the Land of Wano, which exists in the New World half of the Grand Line. In the future, more of his past will likely be revealed to the fans.

9 He Made His Debut In Dressrosa

Fujitora was chosen as an Admiral sometime during the two-year time-skip in One Piece, however, it was only recently that he was introduced in the story. Fujitora first appeared during the Dressrosa arc, where he was tasked with looking into the Luffy and Law alliance.

He appeared in One Piece Chapter 701 for the very first time and as far as the anime goes, Fujitora made his debut in Episode 630.

8 He Has A Paramecia Devil Fruit

Fujitora is a Devil Fruit user and his powers were first revealed during the Dressrosa arc. Interestingly, the name of his Devil Fruit wasn’t revealed in the arc, however, in the Vivre Card, it is clearly mentioned that Fujitora has eaten the Paramecia type Zushi Zushi no Mi.

This Devil Fruit lets him manipulate gravity within a certain radius as freely as he likes, making it a fearsome ability.

7 He Believes In Moral Justice

Unlike Sakazuki, formerly also known as Admiral Akainu, Fujitora doesn’t believe in Absolute Justice. According to him, Moral Justice is the way to go forward and he’s openly willing to acknowledge the shortcomings that he and his men have while doing their duty.

This is very similar to former Admiral Aokiji, whose place he took after the two-year time-skip. Fujitora certainly adds a level of balance to the different beliefs of the Navy Admirals.

6 He Blinded Himself

Fujitora is a blind Admiral. When he first appeared in the Dressrosa arc, he was thought to be a regular but powerful old man by Monkey D. Luffy. As the arc progressed, it was finally revealed that he was a Navy Admiral.

Fujitora’s blindness isn’t a result of some fight that he was in. Rather, it is something that he inflicted upon himself after seeing various atrocities in the world. He strongly believes there are some things better left unseen.

5 He Has Taken A Liking To Luffy

Fujitora and Luffy are enemies and they both acknowledge that fact. The Admiral promised that he would take him down before returning to any Marine base, however, their relationship goes beyond just enemies.

Luffy is a man who has earned the trust of thousands of people and made them see a future worth fighting for. Upon seeing this, Fujitora regrets taking his own eyes, just so he could see what this person looks like. On seeing Fujitora’s sense of justice and responsible nature, Luffy has also taken quite a liking to him.

4 He Has Heightened Senses

Since Fujitora is blind, all his other senses are heightened to a great degree. His hearing is particularly impressive, as seen when he heard Nami’s lightning from miles away when nobody else could. He also has a keen perception of everything around him, making him a force to be reckoned with.

All this is further boosted by his Observation Haki, which appears to be one of his many strengths. As expected of an Admiral, Fujitora is a monster in his own right.

3 His Best Haki Type Is Observation

Being an Admiral, it goes without saying that Fujitora is a great user of both Armament and Observation Haki. However, only his Observation Haki feats have appeared to be impressive in the story so far.

Fujitora was able to use this power to utmost perfection during the Dressrosa arc, even managing to see things despite being blind and feel emotions that others simply couldn’t.

2 He Is The First Admiral With A Weapon

The Admirals of the Marines before the time-skip, Akainu, Aokiji, and Kizaru, were all users of Logia type of Devil Fruits and none of them carried any weapons.

After the time-skip, Fujitora and Ryokugyu took the places of Akainu and Aokiji and in doing so, Fujitora became the first known Admiral to wield a weapon. He carries a sword with him, which he often uses in conjunction with his Zushi Zushi no Mi powers to control gravity around him. His swordsmanship skills also appear to be quite excellent.

1 His Favorite Foods Are Udon And Soba

Fujitora might not appear in the story often, however, Oda has taken great care of his character, even letting the fans know what his likes and dislikes are.

When it comes to food, Fujitora loves Udon and Soba, both different types of noodles. He was seen eating then when he met with Smoker after the events of the Dressrosa arc and later, also when he met with Ryokugyu during the Reverie arc of One Piece.
