The next PlayStation State of Play broadcast will air next week on October 27; those who tune in can look forward to details about PS4 and PS5’s upcoming third-party titles. Sony last hosted a State of Play in July and it, too, was headlined by games from the publisher’s third-party partners. As a result, several PlayStation titles such as the God of War (2018) sequel went without mention.

PlayStation’s September 2021 showcase, which did not bear the State of Play branding, filled in many gaps with regards to Sony’s future plans. Most notably, the September show featured the first look at God of War: Ragnarök in action, courtesy of a fairly lengthy gameplay reveal. The broadcast also treated viewers to teaser trailers for two of Insomniac Games’ next major projects – Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine. The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake and Ghostwire: Tokyo received a bit of shine during the event, as well. Now the hardware manufacturer plans to debut another show in the near future.

A post on the PlayStation Blog notes the next State of Play broadcast will go live in less than a week on Wednesday, October 27 at 2:00 PM PT. The stream is scheduled to last approximately 20 minutes long, just enough time for several “announcements and updates” regarding PS4’s and PS5’s upcoming third-party releases. As is always the case, those interested in watching live will be able to tune in to the mini-event on PlayStation’s official Twitch and YouTube channels.

A new State of Play is heading your way next Wednesday, October 27 starting at 2:00pm PT / 10:00pm BST. Full details and what to expect: https://t.co/EnDyyYGqBc pic.twitter.com/MeUjdW7wIa

The blog post makes it clear that only Sony’s third-party partners will share new details and reveals. Therefore, no one should go into the 20-minute stream expecting fresh information out of PlayStation Studios’ first-party teams – of which there are now 16 in total.

State of Play’s July 2021 event debuted a fair bit of interesting news items, including the announcements of Moss: Book 2 and IllFonic’s Arcadegeddon. The likes of Sega’s Demon Slayer also received extended gameplay footage. It stands to reason, then, that similar segments will anchor the upcoming State of Play. And with Call of Duty: Vanguard, Battlefield 2042, and the Grand Theft Auto trilogy all launching in November, it seems safe to assume at least one or two of them will make an appearance.
