Pokémon BDSP How To Get The Luck Incense (& What It Does)

In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, players can find a Luck Incense to affect the amount of prize money received from a battle. There are a variety of Incenses available for trainers to find within Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and each of them has its own unique purpose both in and outside of trainer battles. Incenses far and wide are highly desirable items, and the Luck Incense is certainly of the best items trainers can find.

All of the Incenses in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have unlimited use, meaning they won’t disappear after a Pokémon uses the effects of a given Incense. For example, the Odd Incense in the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl remakes boosts the power of Psychic-type moves, and does so passively and unlimitedly so long as the Pokémon continues to hold the item. While not every Incense in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl provides a boost like Odd Incense, each of them remains passively active when a Pokémon holds one.

The battle function of the Luck Incense allows trainers to double the prize money that they earn from winning a trainer battle, as long as the Pokémon holding the Luck Incense is part of the battle itself. So, for example, if an Infernape holds the Luck Incense and is in the party but wasn’t used in battle, the effect of the Luck Incense won’t take place. The Luck Incense is a great item for trainers to take advantage of when they rematch Gym Leaders in Pokémon BDSP, as well as any other trainer battle that rewards a large amount of prize money for winning. This effect may sound familiar to many long-time Pokémon fans, as the Luck Incense has the same effect in battle as the Amulet Coin in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl: Find The Luck Incense Inside The Ravaged Path

The Luck Incense can be found inside the Ravaged Path, the cave that is north of Jubilife City. Before trainers can grab the Luck Incense, however, they’ll need to find Surf and be able to use it outside of battle. Surf can be found in Celestic Town by talking to Cynthia’s grandmother, which is a natural part of the game’s progression. Afterward, trainers will need to defeat the Hearthome City Gym Leader, Fantina, in Pokémon BDSP to be able to use Surf outside of battle. Inside the Ravaged Path are multiple rocks that can be smashed with Rock Smash, and a small body of water to Surf across. Follow the path laid out after surfing across the water and it will lead players directly to the Luck Incense.

The Luck Incense also has a breeding effect where any Pokémon breeding with a Chansey or Blissey holding the Luck Incense will produce a Happiny egg. Since all Chansey and Blissey are female Pokémon, any Pokémon that can breed with them will produce a Happiny Egg. Unless players are looking to have their Chansey or Blissey know the move Last Resort earlier than their natural level progression, there is no need to worry about breeding a Happiny over a Chansey in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Breeding baby Pokémon in BDSP usually means the baby Pokémon has unique egg moves, but Happiny’s only unique egg move in BDSP is Last Resort, which both Chansey and Blissey learn at level 48.
