A Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl patch adds a title animation and ending movie, among other things. It was previously known the Nintendo Switch remakes would have a day-one update, but the games showed they still had some unrevealed surprises when a trailer unveiled the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl remakes’ Ramanas Park, which is filled with Legendary Pokémon from Gen I-III.

In the weeks leading up to the release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, ROMs have leaked and been datamined. Various amounts of information have been revealed from these leaks, such as early footage of the games’ title screens. The title screens were shown to be a black screen with the games’ title displaying and a command to press the A button. No other Pokémon game prior to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl had this type of plain title screen, and it appears this wasn’t actually the final version.

With Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s release only a week away, the title screen has been updated with a proper animated sequence, which can be starkly compared with the blank title screen shared by Pokémon leaker CentroLeaks. Nintendo’s 1.1 patch notes show both an opening and ending movie were added to each game, along with multiplayer functions for features like the Grand Underground and the addition of Ramanas Park. A video by Mr Orange includes Pokémon Brilliant Diamond’s new opening and title screen on YouTube.

The exclusion of some aspects such as an opening, ending, and proper title screen prior to the day-one Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl patch is unusual, but not entirely unsurprising since the games haven’t officially released yet. There are a variety of titles that are unplayable without downloading a day-one patch. Although that doesn’t seem to apply to Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl, the lack of certain cutscenes in earlier versions could mean some content was missing prior to version 1.1 due to being unfinished in some capacity.

Although not likely now, this also raises the concern of some players potentially being unable to download the patch and missing out on these Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl cinematics, be it due to a lack of reliable internet connection or the possibility of Nintendo Switch Online being discontinued many years down the line, which would make these remakes far from future-proof. At the very least, current players will be able to experience these cutscenes and gameplay features when the remakes release on November 19 – so long as they download Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s 1.1 patch.
