Pokémon Go How To Find (& Catch) Vibrava

In Pokémon Go, players will need to find and catch a Vibrava, a green Dragonfly Pokémon if they hope to complete the timed Collection Challenge during the Dragonspiral Descent event. Vibrava is the evolved form of Trapinch, but players cannot simply evolve a Trapinch to receive credit for catching a Vibrava. To complete the event, they will need to catch this Ground-Dragon type in the wild.

While no system will guarantee players encounter a Vibrava, the best place to start is in an area dense with Pokéstops, such as National Parks or metropolitan areas. These areas tend to spawn significantly more Pokémon than rural locations. Once players find a suitable spot, they should use an Incense on themselves and use Lure Modules on the surrounding Pokéstops. The Incense will keep a steady stream of Pokémon spawns around the player for 30 minutes, while the Lure Modules will keep Pokémon spawning at the Pokéstop for 30 minutes. Of note, players can continue to use Incense and Lure Modules until they find a Vibrava. There is a rare chance trainers may encounter a shiny Vibrava, identifiable by its orange appearance.

Once players locate a Vibrava, they may want to use an Ultra Ball to increase their chances of catching it over a regular Poké Ball in Pokémon Go. In addition to the Ultra Ball, players can use berries to further improve their odds, such as a Razz Berry or Golden Razz Berry. For example, the Razz Berry will increase a player’s odds by 1.5, while the rarer Golden Razz Berry increases their chances of a successful catch by 2.5. Golden Razz Berries can be obtained as rewards for completing raids or for completing some research tasks. For instance, the research task requiring players to complete three great curveball throws in a row presently rewards two Golden Razz Berries.

Catching Vibrava in Pokémon Go

Vibrava is the middle evolution of the Trapinch line and can be evolved into Flygon with 100 candy in Pokémon Go. Vibrava’s best quick moves are Mud Shot, Dragon Breath, and its charge moves are Bug Buzz, Bulldoze, and Sand Tomb. Vibrava has a max CP of 1384 with 134 attack, 99 defense, and 137 stamina stats. Vibrava is a usable Pokémon for battle in the Great League, with a max CP of 1500 for participating Pokémon. Additionally, during battle, Vibrava is boosted during sunny and windy weather.

Of note, while a variety of Dragon-type Pokémon are currently available to catch in raids in Pokémon Go, Vibrava is presently not one of them. Zekrom and Reshiram are the 5-star raid Pokémon for the Dragonspiral Descent event. Players will only have a limited time to catch these Pokémon, as the raids will change on December 16, 2021. Other Dragon-type Pokémon available in raids include Dragonite, Deino, and Druddigon.

If players can complete the Collection Challenge in time by catching all ten required Pokémon, they will earn a guaranteed encounter with the Dragon-type Pokémon Druddigon. This is Druddigon’s first appearance in Pokémon Go and, players who complete the challenge will be rewarded with 1,000 XP and 3,000 Stardust.
