According to a creatively executed leak, the soon-to-be-released Pokémon Legends: Arceus might include Origin Formes for Legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia – much like their Generation IV Legendary counterpart, Giratina. Dialga and Palkia are at the center of current Pokémon-related conversations, thanks to last month’s release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, but the game did not feature any such Origin Forme for the two Pokémon; although Giratina can be attained in the game.

Giratina is not only available to catch, but its Origin Forme is also unlockable in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. Various Pokémon have another – or, sometimes, a few other – forms, and Giratina is known for its Origin Forme. Giratina’s Altered Forme is, for lack of a better description, its more commonplace form; with six thick legs and a pair of black wings. Giratina takes on its Origin Forme while in the Distortion World – an alternate universe that serves as its home – which appears comparatively more snake-like. Its Origin Forme lacks legs, and instead has six appendages stretching out of its back (in lieu of its black wings). This form can also be accessed outside of the Distortion World if Giratina is holding a Griseous Orb. Although Giratina is the same Pokémon in both states, the Origin Forme is more offensive than its Altered Forme; and both vary in stats and other abilities.

Given Pokémon Legends: Arceus will reportedly include 17 existing Pokémon will have new Hisuian forms (such as Voltorb and Growlithe), perhaps Origin Formes for some Legendary Pokémon is not out of the question – and according to recent leaks (via Dexerto), this could be the case. Reputable Pokémon leaker Riddler Khu first tweeted a cryptic message in Chinese, which led others (like Buzzlorddd) to figuring out that the untranslatable tweet’s pronunciation sounded like “origin DP dragons are the final bosses.” As a result, suspicions surrounding the potential unveiling of Dialga and Palkia Origin Formes are arising. To add to the excitement, the leak itself entertained those who attempted to crack its code, with Buzzlorddd adding, “This is insanely clever… very clever way to leak” and including the audio pronunciation from Google Translate.

Even if these leaks do not result in Dialga and Palkia Origin Formes in the upcoming game, Pokémon Legends: Arceus will have plenty of Hisuian variants to enjoy. Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark caught fans’ attentions when they were revealed in a spooky video teaser, which showcased the two Pokémon’s ghastly white forms. Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark also have unique backstories – they are quite literally ghosts that died while migrating to a new region, and will be vengeful spirits in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Leaks cannot be corroborated without an official announcement or in-game reveal, but the rumors surrounding different Pokémon forms certainly emphasize the upcoming game’s focus on bringing players a new setting – and slightly altered Pokédex. Players probably shouldn’t expect an entirely new, revamped list of Pokémon to encounter; but there is a lot to look forward to with respect to how Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ will stand apart from previous series installments.
