Pokémon Theory Why Starter Pokémon Cant Be Found In The Wild

Ever since the Pokémon franchise’s creation, many of its creatures have gained immeasurable popularity. Game Freak’s games have effectively given birth to a phenomenon the world simply cannot ignore. To those who are not invested in the series, perhaps some of the most recognizable Pokémon are the starters. At the start of each mainline title, the player is given the choice to choose between three creatures which represent one of three types. The player’s choice is one they will have to stick with for the rest of the game, as starter Pokémon are not only incredibly powerful, but also very rare.

Of course, all of these starters have very memorable traits. Classics such as Charizard and Blastoise are remembered fondly, while newer designs such as Samurott and Decidueye have very intricate appearances. Other the years, many fans have wondered and speculated exactly why these starting creatures are so rare. In most Pokémon games, they aren’t available at the start. In addition to this, they are usually impossible to capture in the wild through traditional means. Why exactly are starter Pokémon absent from wild areas entirely?

With such an intriguing question comes an equally intriguing Pokémon fan theory. A Pokémon fan on Reddit proposes justification as to why starter Pokémon are no longer found in the wild. This theory suggests that starter Pokémon were often captured in old times due to how intelligent and powerful they were. Because of this, they were the first creatures to greatly benefit humanity, which earned them the title of “Starters.” However, in time they were over-utilized, lowering their species’ numbers. Due to their dwindling population in the wild, they became very rare.

Why Starter Pokémon Are So Rare

The theory concludes that due to their elusive nature, the starters are often only held by scientists and professors. This is done to make sure the creatures can be studied and keep the last remaining few of them alive. The theory also cleverly pays note to the Pokémon Snap game, stating the starters can roam the wild because players aren’t allowed to catch them. Due to this, they can prosper naturally without human interference.

Overall, the theory itself does make a few assumptions to justify itself. Despite this, everything stated makes a large amount of sense. The rarity of such coveted creatures would explain exactly why only professors and scientists still have them. Also, each generations starters have the same three types no matter what. At the beginning of civilization, these Pokémon could’ve helped to modernize their respective regions using their unique talents. It’s a shockingly sound theory that would provide much justification as to why these particular creatures are so coveted within the Pokémon franchise.
