Pokémon Unite Mobile Launch Patch Buffs Zeraora Charizard & More

Free-to-play MOBA Pokémon Unite has officially launched on mobile devices following its Nintendo Switch release earlier this summer. Pokémon Unite is available for both iOS and Android from today, September 22, and has also received a new patch to help improve and balance the game, buffing fan-favorite Pokémon including Charizard and Zeraora.

Pokémon Unite has been a success for its developer TiMi Studio Group, seeing over nine million downloads on Nintendo Switch alone, and the game is expected to see more players than ever thanks to its new mobile launch. Pokémon Unite now supports full crossplay between Switch and mobile, meaning fans can play with their friends even if they don’t own the Nintendo console. The game is a unique entry in the Pokémon game series, offering 5v5 10-minute-long competitive multiplayer matches in which players battle other Pokémon and score goals for team-based wins.

TiMi Studio Group has released the patch notes for Pokémon Unite’s mobile launch, revealing many character buffs. Charizard’s Flamethrower movement speed has had its increase strengthened, while its Fire Blast cooldown has been reduced. The Fire-Pokémon’s Unite Move (Seismic Slam) has also been changed. The patch notes explain that when used, “the user’s basic attacks deal increased damage and leave opposing Pokémon burned. In addition, when the user deals damage to an opposing Pokémon, the user recovers HP.” Zeraora’s Slash number of attacks has decreased, but the damage of each attack has increased, along with a reduction in Wild Charge’s cooldown. Meanwhile, Venusaur has also been buffed, with its Petal Dance now dealing more damage, with cooldown reduced, and movement speed increase strengthened. The full patch notes can be found below.

The various Pokémon Unite characters buffs and nerfs should help to make the game the best experience possible for both its existing fans, and its new mobile players. As well as the changes detailed in the patch notes, players can expect to see a few new changes following the update, including the addition of new Pokémon Mammoswine and Sylveon, as well as new Holoware, in-game events, and the “Galactic Ghost 094” battle pass.

Those who don’t own a Nintendo Switch have been waiting for the mobile launch of Pokémon Unite for some time now, but this is far from the end of the road for the game. The developer has previously confirmed that new Pokémon, themed events, and battle passes will be added to the game in the future, making Pokémon Unite a compelling experience for any fan of the franchise. There are close to 900 Pokémon in the series, almost all of which can add new types of battle strategies to the game, and while Pokémon Unite only features a fraction of the available familiar faces so far, players hopefully won’t have long to wait before even more Pokémon Unite characters are added to the roster.
