Seth Rogens 10 Worst Movies (According to IMDb)

Seth Rogen has become one of the most iconic comedic movie stars of the last couple of decades. Known for his unique laugh and raunchy and obnoxious comedies, like The Pineapple Express, Knocked Up, and The Interview, he has become a cultural icon of the last decade.

However, in his long career, he has also had a few film roles that were simply just not good. In order to have an overview of these movies, we have put together a ranking of his 10 worst movies, according to IMDb. In order to make sure that this list is accurate, movies with the same rating have been ranked via their user ratings.

10 Sausage Party (2006) – 6.1

The R-rated animated comedy is also probably one of the weirdest films ever made. It follows the story of an anthropomorphic sausage, Frank (Rogen), who tries to escape his inevitable fate.

Joined by a range of other foods, voiced by actors like James Franco, Edward Norton, and Salma Hayek, the over-the-top comedy feels as if it was written by teenagers trying to one-up each other in how crude they could be. A commercial success, the film perfectly illustrates Rogen’s style of humor, and although not totally loved by critics, the film was loved by fans.

9 For A Good Time, Call … (2012) – 6.0

There are many creative ways to make rent money, but starting a phone sex line is certainly somewhere at the top of the list. Starring Rogen’s wife, Lauren Miller Rogen, and Ari Graynor as two former enemies who move in together in an apartment that they can’t afford, the film was, at best, a basic average comedy.

Seth Rogen has a small role as Captain Jerry in the movie. Although not rated highly, the performances by Graynor and Lauren Miller Rogen were excellent.

8 Shrek The Third (2007) – 6.0

Seth Rogens 10 Worst Movies (According to IMDb)

Shrek is often considered one of the best kids films to ever be made. However, many fans and critics have not shown the same amount of love for the rest of the franchise.

In particular, Shrek the Third felt like a flat, half-baked parody of the original movie. Rogen has a small role as the Ship Captain and it was as equally unmemorable as the rest of the film.

7 Observe And Report (2009) – 5.8

Seth Rogens 10 Worst Movies (According to IMDb)

Over the years, there have been some iconic first date movies, but 2009’s Observe and Report is not often regarded as one of them. Meant to be a silly romantic comedy, the film took a pretty dark turn when Rogen’s character basically date rapes Brandi (Anna Faris) and it is played off as a joke.

The scene was unpalatable to many and, combined with the rest of the movie’s average humor, it is easy to see why it is ranked so lowly.

6 The Green Hornet (2011) – 5.8

Long before Deadpool became the bar by which all other comedic superhero movies would be judged, Seth Rogen tried his hand as the funny masked vigilante, the Green Hornet.

Unfortunately, most fans were left disappointed with Rogen as he struggled to convince anyone that he was action star material. Written by Rogen and frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg, the movie combined a pretty basic storyline with dull action, and therefore, it is easy to see why this superhero movie never got a sequel.

5 The Guilt Trip (2012) – 5.7

It is not often that you hear the names Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand in the same sentence, but the two came together for the movie The Guilt Trip, where they play a mother and son who try to reconcile some of their differences on a road trip.

Written by This Is Us creator, Dan Fogelman, the film unfortunately just wasn’t that funny. Unluckily, Barbra Streisand was nominated for a Razzie Award as Worst Actress for her role.

4 Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016) – 5.7

Sequels aren’t often as good as the first ones and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising is no exception. Set two years after the first movie, it follows the Radner’s (Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne) as they deal with a new sorority while trying to sell their house.

In this case, the film was almost an exact copy of the first movie and did not add anything new or exciting. Although the film was far from Rogen’s best, it was a massive commercial success.

3 You, Me and Dupree (2006) – 5.6

Seth Rogens 10 Worst Movies (According to IMDb)

2006 was the year of some pretty successful romantic comedies that included The Holiday and She’s The Man. Unfortunately, You, Me and Dupree was not one of them. It revolves around the lives of newlywed couple Carl (Matt Dillion) and Molly (Kate Hudson) and their friend Randolph Dupree (Owen Wilson), who they just cannot get rid of. Rogen has a small and ultimately forgettable role as Carl’s friend.

Although panned by critics, the film was a massive commercial success, and most surprisingly, the movie was directed by the now iconic Russo brothers, who would go on to direct Avenger’s Infinity War.

2 The Sound And The Fury (2014) – 4.8

Seth Rogens 10 Worst Movies (According to IMDb)

Based on the popular 1929 novel by William Faulkner, The Sound and the Fury follows the story of the Southern aristocratic Compson Family as they deal with the changing realities of the 20th century.

Unfortunately, director James Franco struggled to portray this complex and enticing story, and the movie was panned by critics and fans alike. Luckily for Rogen, he had a pretty small role in the film.

1 Zeroville (2019) – 4.6

Unfortunately, Rogen’s worst film is also another collaboration with his long-time friend James Franco. Based on the novel by Steve Erickson, it follows the story of a character named Vikar and his journey through Hollywood.

The film was generally viewed unfavorably by critics and was even nominated for three Razzie Awards. If there is anything to learn from Rogen’s career it is that perhaps doing your friend’s movies isn’t always such a good idea.
