WARNING: The following contains minor spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home, now in theaters.

Two of Spider-Man’s most savage foes could be at each other’s throats in a future film, as Lizard actor Rhys Ifans calls out the Lethal Protector himself, Venom.

Though the actor wasn’t sure how to answer at first when asked during a recent interview about which Marvel superhero he’d like to see the Lizard fight next, Ifans’ King’s Man co-star Djimon Hounsou suggested Venom as the Lizard’s next opponent. “Yeah, Venom and the Lizard,” Ifans agreed while speaking to Inverse. “I mean, that would be messy, yeah.”

While audiences may be more familiar with Venom after the killer symbiote’s appearances in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 and the two more recent Venom films starring Tom Hardy, Ifans explained why he believes the Lizard deserves to be recognized as one of the web-slinger’s greatest adversaries, as well. “Spider-Man is so deft and slight and small and nimble, and the Lizard is this hulking ball of rage,” he said. “That’s why they were put together in the first place, because they’re a good and interesting match. Also, there’s that father-son thing between [Dr. Curtis] Connors and Peter that’s really interesting to excavate.”

Ifans, who played the Lizard and his human counterpart Dr. Curt Connors in 2012’s Amazing Spider-Man, recently reprised his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home after his involvement in the film was all but confirmed in October. Hardy’s Eddie Brock, the host of the Venom symbiote, also appears in the mid-credits scene but is whisked away, leaving a small piece of the symbiote behind.

The Lizard, Venom and several other members of Spidey’s multiversal rogues gallery may have been sent back to their respective realities cured at the end of No Way Home, but that doesn’t mean their stories are necessarily over just yet. Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal confirmed that plans for a third Venom movie are currently underway.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now playing in theaters.
