Superman & Lois 5 Things That Have Changed Since Crisis (& 5 Things That Remained The Same)

The CW’s Superman & Lois is one of the newest additions to the ever-growing Arrowverse. Focusing on the superhero and his family, its unique spin has offered interesting details that welcome both veterans and newcomers. Older fans in particular will be interested in the details as they represent a post-Crisis timeline.

That led to several changes being made to what the CW multiverse used to be. However, not everything has changed in the timeline and fans might be curious about what is and isn’t different. There are several elements about the Crisis that has affected the main timeline and some constants that remained the same.

10 Changed – The Children

During the events of Crisis On Infinite Earths, Superman and Lois had a child, but it was only one baby boy named Jonathan Kent. As a result, Jonathan Kent didn’t have a large role other than appearing during a bad time.

As the events of the Crisis eventually concluded, fans learn that in the new timeline, Superman has twins, Jonathan and Jordan Kent, who are polar opposites in terms of their personalities. Nonetheless, they both maintain the heart of their father and mother.

9 Didn’t Change – Superman

Due to Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman appearing throughout the CW as their resident character, this version of the Man of Steel still remains in the universe. Many of his personality traits, powers, and beats of character are carried over through the show.

The only difference is that Superman is wiser due to raising two kids and seems to be slightly more experienced as a result of the changes in Crisis. Although just like in Supergirl, he isn’t completely perfect.

8 Changed – Relationship With Sam Lane

Oddly enough, due to the Crisis event, Superman’s relationship with General Lane is more amicable than it was in the previous timeline. Aside from looking different due to an actor change, Sam Lane works with Superman in order to protect the world from any potential threat.

This is a contrast to his original personality back in Supergirl who was a short-sighted person who didn’t trust Superman at all. That being said, his stern military personality remains and his relationship with Superman is somewhat shaky at times.

7 Didn’t Change – Lois Lane

Similar to Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman, Elizabeth Tulloch’s Lois Lane is still present after the Crisis. Just like in the previous timeline and various incarnations of the character, Lois is a strong and stubborn journalist who loves being in the action.

This strength is what made Superman attracted to the reporter and eventually, they became married. Their relationship not only maintained from the previous timeline but also respectful to the source material.

6 Changed – Superman’s Costume

Although he has worn the costume when he appeared in CW’s Supergirl during the events of Crisis On Infinite Earths, he has since changed his suit. In fact, due to the brief intro shown during episode 1, it is argued that he has never worn the suit as in this timeline, he proposed to Lois with this suit.

Nonetheless, the suit is closer to what he wore in the comics and is brighter compared to what he wore before.

5 Didn’t Change – Origin Story

The Superman origin story has been unchanged throughout numerous incarnations. Despite the new timeline, this story is no exception as he still arrived in Smallville through a rocket from Krypton.

He is brought up by Jonathan and Martha Kent, and he was raised with their values. This is followed by him living in Metropolis and meeting Lois Lane, which results in the adventures that fans and newcomers would expect from the Man of Steel.

4 Changed – Fortress Of Solitude

Interestingly, the Fortress of Solitude changed from the previous timeline. Although the changes are fairly minor comparatively, the one shown in the show seems to be less crystalline and more ice-based. It fits the fact that the fortress is set within the arctic.

However, the use of the fortress still remains as it holds Superman’s Kryptonian heritage such as Jor-El and he still proposed to Lois within the area as well.

3 Didn’t Change – Events Of Supergirl

Without the Crisis or the Supergirl show, Superman & Lois wouldn’t be able to exist. As it is a part of the CW superhero franchise, many events that occurred in the previous shows would still apply to the series.

Although Superman & Lois primarily exists due to Crisis, many events from the Supergirl series tie into the show due to the previous actors appearing in it. Not only that, but many of the established characteristics from the previous timeline still applies post-Crisis.

2 Changed – Age

Tying back to how Superman is now a father of two teenage boys, it is clear that he is likely older at least mentally from the previous timeline. Prior to that, Superman and Lois were raising a baby boy. Although it is also possible that he is the same age and is just more experienced in this new timeline.

Either way, Jonathan and Jordan Kent being teenagers means that Superman has to deal with far more than he can sometimes handle. He has new problems that he is attempting to balance, which is a fairly new spin on the character.

1 Didn’t Change – Hope

The heart and spirit of Superman still remain in the show. Although the series has new camera work and a more muted color tone, the character and his need to save others are still prominent. On top of that, his strong optimism and willingness to help others allow him to stand apart from his peers.

His strength also allows him to deal with whatever problems faces him and his family despite the tense issues that occur from time to time. That is something that has been established ever since the previous timelines.
