Fire-type Pokemon bring in the heat in Pokemon Sword & Shield. This guide will show players the best available Fire-types in the game. Pokemon Sword & Shield recently brought its total roster to over 600 with the release of the final piece of the expansion pass. The Crown Tundra and the Isle of Armor brought together a total of 200+ Pokemon to add to the limited Pokedex of the Galar region. Now, players have tons of options when it comes to building their ideal team for either casual or competitive play. This guide will provide a list of the best available Fire-type Pokemon in Pokemon Sword & Shield.
While casual play is just focusing on reaching the end of the game by winning all the gym battles and taking down the champion, competitive Pokemon battling is a completely different monster. Players would need to focus on the Pokemon’s stats, the type of item they are holding when to switch out to a different Pokemon, how to stall for time, and what move to select with every turn that can make or break your entire strategy. It’s like if Chess had over 600 different pieces in the game. These Fire-type Pokemon will work in both competitive and casual play.
The Best Fire-Types in Pokemon Sword & Shield
Here are the best Fire-type Pokemon players will be able to capture during their time in the Galar region.
- Centiskorch: One of the newest Pokemon available in the region, players would be able to have their own from evolving Sizzlipede. It also has its own powerful Gigantamax form. It’s a Physical attacker, so giving it moves like Fire Lash and Heat Crash would be ideal for this Pokemon.
- Arcanine: Players can evolve a Growlithe found at the Dusty Bowl. This Pokemon has been competitively viable for several different games now. Giving it moves like Extreme Speed with its decent Attack stat can take down almost any Pokemon in a pinch.
- Chandelure: Focusing more on Special Attack, Chandelure is perfect for that. Originating from the Unova region, players can use this Pokemon to set up a Will-O-Wisp and burn enemy Pokemon. Combine that with a Shadow Ball and this Special Attacker can get the job done.
While the adventures in Pokemon Sword & Shield have come to a close, the 25th anniversary of the Pokemon series is happening this year. There will likely be an announcement of a new mainline title in the near future. Hopefully, it will be the heavily anticipated Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remake fans have been asking for.
