The 10 Most Powerful Characters In Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Game

The galaxy is not for the faint of heart: there are monsters, bounty hunters, and intergalactic villains posing a constant threat. So, surviving in the far reaches of the cosmic side of the Marvel universe requires characters to be strong, especially in the world of Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Across the campaign, the Guardians Of The Galaxy constantly meet foes and allies that rival or trump them in power. This raises the question, who are the most powerful characters in the game? That means actual characters only – so beasts such as the Dweller-In-Darkness and Wendigos will not count.

Groot

It’s fortunate that Groot is such a laid-back and docile being, otherwise, he could probably take over a planet with ease. Groot already features immense strength, natural healing abilities, and is one of many Marvel characters who are smarter than they appear.

However, what makes Groot dangerous is his control over plant life, including his vine-like roots. Abilities such as uprooting and tangling enemies up are only a small fraction of what Groot is capable of. Knowing these capabilities makes anyone appreciate Groot’s lovable and child-like personality.

Gamora

Even without her sword, Gamora was raised and trained by Thanos to be “the Deadliest Woman In The Galaxy.” She’s fast, nimble, and capable of fending off dozens of foes on her own. With the sword, that number is tripled.

The best comparison, that even Star-Lord makes in his notes, is that Gamora is akin to a ninja but much more dangerous. She is capable of taking on many powerful foes using swift and precise strikes that can bring down even some of the hardest enemies in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Star-Lord

Wielding his signature Element Guns, one of the best weapons in the GOTG game, Star-Lord is surprisingly powerful. Not only did young Peter Quill adapt to space in order to survive but he is the son of J’Son, the King Of Spartax. It makes Star-Lord into more than an average human even without his equipment.

That said, items such as the aforementioned Element Guns provided by his father and his hover boots allow him to get the upper hand in a fight. The guns fire different elemental rounds as well as the powerful laser blasts, he can hover over his enemies, and dash at great speed. On top of all that, he wears a visor that can helpfully assist him in a number of ways.

Drax

Overall, Drax might not be the most intelligent being in the galaxy but he is a strong and noble warrior. According to the lore in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, Drax was the one to kill Thanos during the Galactic War and that’s far from a small feat to kill the Mad Titan.

Throughout the campaign, Drax shows his raw strength: capable of lifting massive pieces of the environment to help Star-Lord or even throwing enemies across an arena. As a bonus, Drax wields his Katathian daggers that can seemingly penetrate anything.

Cosmo

At first glance, it would be easy to assume that this golden retriever is nothing more than a dog in a spacesuit. However, Cosmo is far from a regular dog: he is, in fact, the supervisor of Knowhere and he gets this leadership status due to his advanced psychic abilities that rival the likes of Professor X of the X-Men.

With ease, Cosmo was able to incapacitate the Guardians and the Blood Brothers at the same time. Later on, when under the influence of the Church, Cosmo was able to use his abilities to levitate the Guardians into the air. Finally, Cosmo and his puppies controlled Knowhere to attack the Sacrosanct.

Lady Hellbender

Also known as the Monster Queen, Lady Hellbender did not earn a fortress on Seknarf Nine, legions of loyal soldiers, and an army of monsters by being gentle. Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy showcases that Hellbender is not a woman to be reckoned with and could easily kill the Guardians in hand-to-hand combat.

Of all of the many great characters in the GOTG game, Lady Hellbender has a reputation that is warranted. With bone-like armor, a physique that would make Captain America blush, and deadliness combined, she proves to be a dangerous villain for the Guardians but also a proper ally in the right circumstances.

Grand Unifier Raker

There are many villains that the Guardians end up fighting but the story’s main antagonist is definitely Grand Unifier Raker, a religious zealot determined to convert the universe to his Church Of Universal Truth. He does this by serving the dark entity known as Magus who makes the false promise of delivering a perfect world.

Unlike many other similar villains, Raker is not just some powerless old man sending in minions to fight the Guardians. Instead, Raker proves to be a powerful user of energy harvested from souls and takes on the Guardians when he needs to, even becoming one of the game’s final bosses.

Adam Warlock

In a smart move in terms of marketing, this character was never once hinted at or shown in trailers. So nobody expected Adam Warlock to appear in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, let alone be one of the most important characters. He is first encountered in one of the best locations in the GOTG game: Lamentis.

From there, the golden messiah-esque figure joins the Guardians and proves to be an arrogant but still noble superhero that is capable of wielding one of the Infinity Stones. He also ends up being essential to stopping the two powerhouse villains: Raker and Magus.

The Magus

Magus is a dark entity spawned from Adam Warlock and is capable of consuming the entire universe if it gets strong enough. Of course, the Guardians are there to foil its evil plan but the Magus is not easy to defeat. It can absorb the soul essence of others to get stronger while also growing in mass, capable of corrupting anyone.

The Magus fools anyone by giving them the Promise, the illusion of a perfect reality where all loved ones are alive and the world is perfect. All it is doing is siphoning off these corrupted to become godlike. Only the Soul Stone was able to defeat and contain Magus by the end.

Nikki Gold

Though she begins as a cadet for the Nova Corps, Raker and Magus use Nikki Gold and turn her into the Matriarch of the Church Of Universal Truth. This makes her a very powerful puppet for Magus and the Guardians have to free her.

When she is freed, the power of the Soul Stone permanently changes her, giving her astonishing powers. Nikki gets fiery hair, the ability to fly, and has energy-based powers akin to Captain Marvel. She ends up being the only person in the final fight against Magus to deal any damage to the entity; she even becomes a Guardian Of The Galaxy by helping them defeat Magus.
