The 10 Oldest Queens Who Competed On RuPaul’s Drag Race

The art of drag has been recorded to be going perhaps as early as Shakespearean times. But since it aired in 2009, RuPaul’s Drag Race has greatly popularized drag and its culture in 21st-century mainstream entertainment. As a result, Drag Race offered a chance for more mature drag queens to finally get the exposure they deserved and launch their drag careers in ways it couldn’t have been done before.

With years of experience prior to appearing on the show, older Drag Race contestants would usually have the advantage while also being on hand to help younger contestants. In fact, some of the ten oldest queens have moved on to become Drag Race legends.

10 Pandora Boxx (Season 2) – 37

Another Drag Race legend is Pandora Boxx, who appeared in the second season of the show. Aged 37 at the time, Pandora was one of the first queens to take part in the now legendary Snatch Game and gave one of the challenge’s best performances as Carol Channing.

Like Latrice, Pandora has also appeared in two seasons of All Stars. Unfortunately, she came last in the first season of the show but redeemed herself in All Stars 6 by finishing in sixth place. She would revive her Carol Channing impersonation in All Stars 6 and take part in a memorable lip sync against that season’s Lip Sync Assassin, Silky Nutmeg Ganache.

9 Victoria “Porkchop” Parker (Season 1) – 39

Because she was the first-ever queen to be eliminated in Drag Race, Victoria “Porkchop” Parker (who was 39 at the time of recording season 1) has become something of a Drag Race legend and has had one of the most successful careers post-Drag Race.

Victoria was introduced to newer Drag Race fans by having the first episode of season 13 named after her and appearing as a Snatch Game contestant alongside fellow Drag Race legend Raven later in the series. Because of her positive attitude and her long fruitful career, fans would love to see Victoria return for Drag Race All Stars.

8 Latrice Royale (Season 4) – 39

“Large and in charge,” Latrice Royale made her presence known the moment she stepped into the Werk Room in season 4 and has become a Drag Race legend since. Aged 39 when season 4 was filmed, she is currently the oldest queen to win the title of Miss Congeniality.

Latrice was well remembered for some sassy comebacks and a side-splitting performance as the guard of Tuckahoe Prison. She continues to pursue a successful drag career, including appearing on two seasons of All Stars. It was in that show’s last season where she made a memorable return to the series after a shocking exit.

7 Penny Tration (Season 5) – 39

Penny Tration was 39 when season 5 was recorded, making her the oldest queen of the series. Unfortunately, she was also the first queen to be sent home in season 5, ending up in the bottom two with Serena ChaCha after both coming bottom in the challenge to create runway looks from materials salvaged from dumpsters.

Because her time on the show was so brief, Penny’s most notable moment was failing to know the words to the lip-sync battle’s song, “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus. She endeared herself to the other queens, who actively snubbed her lip-sync victor in the following episode.

6 Chad Michaels (Season 4) – 40

Chad Michaels is one of the most recognizable Drag Race queens to date. Aged 40 at the time of production, Chad made it all the way to the final of season 4, and went on to become the first-ever winner of Drag Race All Stars.

Prior to Drag Race, Chad was an experienced performer, most notably as a Cher impersonator. She used this to her advantage in the season 4 Snatch Game and her excellent and hilarious Cher impersonation broke grounds on Drag Race by being the first queen to make wig changes mid-performance.

5 Darienne Lake (Season 6) – 41

Aged 41 at the time of recording, Darienne Lake was the oldest queen of the sixth season of Drag Race. Although one of the first to lip-sync in season 6, she proved herself to be a worthy competitor throughout the competition and ultimately finished in fourth place.

One of Darienne’s most noteworthy moments was not only winning the perennial RuPaul’s Drag Race Reading Challenge, a staple in the show mini challenges, but also beating Bianca del Rio, the season’s eventual winner and a well-seasoned pro in both comedy and roasting.

4 Mrs. Kasha Davis (Season 7) – 43

Also from season 7 was Mrs. Kasha Davis, who was 43 years old at the time of recording. Mrs. Kasha Davis had more luck on the show than Tempest with a mini-challenge win yet she was also eliminated early and finished in eleventh place overall.

Despite this unexpected exit, Mrs. Kasha Davis has had and continues to have a successful drag career, having released numerous singles and continuing to tour internationally. She has been known to frequently perform with two other older Drag Race alumni Darienne Lake and Pandora Boxx.

3 Tempest DuJour (Season 7) – 46

Tempest DuJour appeared in season 7 of Drag Race, aged 46 at the time. She is the second oldest Drag Race queen overall and is only seven years younger than Mama Ru herself.

Sadly for Tempest, she was the first queen to be eliminated in season 7, losing the lip sync battle to Kandy Ho. The challenge was to create three looks, including a nude runway theme that Drag Race fans do not want to see again, and up against the eventual season 7 winner Violet Chachki, Tempest just didn’t quite impress the judges.

2 Tamisha Iman (Season 13) – 49

Aged 49 at the time season 13 was recorded, Tamisha Iman is currently the second oldest onscreen queen to ever compete on Drag Race. She was due to appear in season 12 but sadly had to forfeit her position due to a battle with cancer.

Tamisha came into season 13 with years of drag pageantry experience under her belt. Although she finished in eleventh, she has definitely made an impact, being the drag mother of many queens, including season 13’s Miss Congeniality LaLa Ri, and a notable heated confrontation with fellow contestant Kandy Muse.

1 Charlie Hides (Season 9) – 52

Charlie Hides is not only the oldest queen to ever appear on Drag Race but also the oldest of all Drag Race contestants to date. Charlie was 52 years old at the time of recording season 9 and with UK citizenship as well as US citizenship, she could technically be considered the first UK queen to appear on Drag Race.

Unfortunately, Charlie didn’t make a great impact during her time on the show and finished twelfth overall, but this was down to a broken rib in an earlier episode. However, she is most famous for her YouTube channel and even made a cameo in the Absolutely Fabulous movie.
