Since Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection arrives in the coming weeks, PS4 players can no longer purchase Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy as standalone titles on the digital storefront. The Legacy of Thieves Collection hits PS5 in January 2022, Sony announced this morning upon opening preorders.

Notably, the upcoming bundle will package in both Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, the latter being a shorter, standalone experience that stars series veteran Chloe Frazer and newcomer Nadine Ross. After a lengthy bout of rumors, Sony officially confirmed the collection and its PC and PS5 release a few months ago, promising enhancements on the new console that include heightened visuals, improved performance, 3D audio, and adaptive trigger support on the DualSense. Things can get a little confusing when it comes to the PS5 upgrade model, though. Those who previously purchased Uncharted 4, Lost Legacy, or Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End & Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Digital Bundle can grab the Legacy of Thieves Collection’s digital version as a $10 upgrade. PS4 users who own a physical copy of one of the two titles but only have access to a digital PS5 console cannot take advantage of the upgrade offer.

As spotted by Push Square, the standalone digital versions of Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy no longer appear on the PlayStation Store. When searching either game title on the PS4’s digital storefront, only one purchasing option pops up – the previously mentioned Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End & Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Digital Bundle, which bears a $39.99 price tag as of writing. It seems Sony removed the standalone editions upon rolling out pre-orders for the upcoming bundle. A screenshot of the PS Store search for The Lost Legacy on PS4 appears below:

This is unfortunate news for those who may already own Uncharted 4 on PS4 but not Lost Legacy and vice versa. Such players are now locked into buying both versions digitally regardless of previous purchases. With this in mind, it’s a mystery as to why Sony would even entertain the thought of limiting the purchasing options for each game.

Uncharted 4 originally launched digitally and at retail in May 2016, marking the end of Nathan Drake’s interactive adventures as we know them. Naughty Dog planned on developing a story expansion for the fourth mainline entry, yet the project ballooned in size during development. As a result, the studio shipped Lost Legacy as a standalone title in August 2017, with Chloe and Nadine at the helm.
