The popular action-horror RPG Vampyr includes weapons that are divided into four categories: One Hand, Two Hand, Off-handed Melee, and Ranged Weapons. 9 Gwyneth’s Surgical Knife
Knives are unique weapons in Vampyr because they are mainly used as a defensive form of Blood Absorption. The Off-handed Melee Weapon allows a player to conjure a protective blood shield around them to stave off vampiric attacks while also delivering a good dose of damage in the process.
Of the knives found in Vampyr, Gwyneth’s Surgical Knife is the most powerful to defeat the scariest enemies in the game. Found by embracing Gwyneth Branagan at Pembroke Hospital, the knife has the highest blood absorption rate (18), a fast attack speed (10), and durable stamina (15) to kill as many Skals as possible.
8 Archer’s Hatchet
With higher stamina than Clay’s Hatchet, Archer’s Hatchet is the best of its kind in Vampyr and a convenient One Hand weapon to use to slay as many Skals in quick succession. Archer’s Hatchet can be found on the boats near The Docks. Hatchets are a great way to inflict maximal damage without depending on an Off-Hand Melee weapon in tandem.
With a level 5 damage rate of 235, an attack speed of 10, and a stamina score of 25, Archer’s Hatchet is an ideal weapon to freely chop, dice, and flay as many undead ghouls that dare crosses Jonathan’s path.
7 Rakesh’s Surgical Saw
After hatchets, the most potent weapon to wield in Vampyr is almost certainly a hacksaw, a unique bleeding weapon. While the Used Hacksaw found on the 2nd floor of Pembroke Hospital is perfectly acceptable, Rakesh’s Surgical Saw is the one to go for in the game. Find it by embracing Rakesh at the hospital and taking his saw from his medical locker. Rakesh is close to Dr. Swansea, one of the best characters in the game.
With a 220 damage rate, 15 speed of attack, and 20 stamina score, Rakesh’s Surgical Saw is an easy-to-wield One Hand weapon that also requires embracing many NPCs in the game, which makes the story far more engaging. If players don’t want to embrace citizens, the Used Hacksaw will suffice.
6 Charlotte’s Stake
After hacksaws, stakes are the most effective One-Hand weapons to use in Vampyr. Long hailed as the bane of vampires, stakes are strategic Off-Hand Melee weapons that can be driven directly into the heart of an undead ghoul to inflict unparalleled blunt damage.
Of the three types of stakes found in the game, Charlotte’s Stake is the best. It can be obtained in one of the spookiest horror game settings by defeating the vampiric boss at the end of the Find Emily quest. Boasting a max 35 stun rate, durable 30 stamina score, and a 10 speed of attack, Charlotte’s Stake is best to find early and continue upgrading as the game progresses.
5 Rodney’s Scythe
Due to the physical nature of putting a person’s entire body weight behind their attack, Two-Hand Weapons in Vampyr often inflict twice as much damage as One-Handed ones. Out of the Two-Handed Weapons, the sadistic Scythe is hard to beat. Rodney’s Scythe, in particular, is a ferocious weapon to wield in the game. Embrace Rodney near the sewers to obtain his weapon.
The custom-made Scythe deals a max 385 damage rate to go with a dependable 30 stamina score. The only real drawback is a slower 5 attack speed and the inability to use it with an Off-Hand Melee Weapon.
4 Joe’s Barbed Cudgel
After scythes, the most effective Two-Hand Weapon to use in the game is a Cudgel. Essentially functioning as a spiked bat that inflicts massive blood and blunt damage, Joe’s Barbed Cudgel is a substantial upgrade to the Common Barbed Cudgel. It can be located by Embracing Joe in Whitechapel and raiding his closet in Harry’s house.
With a staggering maximum damage rate of 400 to go with a 30 stamina score and 15 stun rate, Joe’s Barbed Cudgel is among the most powerful weapons in Vampyr this side of firearms.
3 Milton’s Shotgun
Once all of the blunt and sharp objects are exhausted, it’s time to increase the arsenal by finding Ranged Weapons. While pistols are effective at a distance, Shotguns inflict far more damage. For one of the most powerful firearms in the game, purchase Milton’s Shotgun by Embracing him at Pembroke.
Delivering an unparalleled 576 max damage rate, the double-barrel shotgun is ideal for blasting Skals to smithereens at close and medium range. The shotgun holds two shells per magazine, has a 10 fire speed rate, and a 15 reload time, making it hard for a Skal to strike in between shots.
2 Edwina’s Double-Barrelled Shotgun
By Embracing Edwina, Jonathan will gain access to Edwina’s Double-Barrelled Shotgun, arguably the most powerful firearm in the game. With the exact same specs as Milton’s Shotgun, Edwina’s takes the edge due to its customizable single shot per barrel, and it can easily take on some of the scariest video game monsters imaginable.

As one of the final weapons to find in the game, True Dragonbane’s value derives from its creation in 6th-Century Wales and the blood it’s carried since. It’s hard to find, but players are rewarded with the most powerful weapon in Vampyr if they can pass all of the obstacles to procure it.
