Wheel of Time Episode 7 Confirmed To Reveal 4 New Worlds

The Wheel Of Time star, Rosamund Pike, confirms the series will reveal four new worlds in episode 7. The Wheel Of Time is currently airing its first season on Amazon Prime, with the first six episodes currently available for streaming. The seventh episode will be released on December 17, with the season finale coming out the following week on December 24. The series has already been renewed for a season 2 by Amazon, which began filming in July 2021.

The Wheel Of Time follows Moiraine, a member of the Aes Sedai, a group of women who can use magic, and her journey to find the reincarnation of the Dragon, an individual fated to destroy the world or save it. The hit show is based on a series of books by author Robert Jordan with assistance from Brandon Sanderson. The series is run by Rafe Judkins, who also wrote the pilot episode.

In an interview with TVLine, Pike discussed Moiraine’s growth throughout the first six episodes and a bit about what viewers can expect in the remaining episodes and season 2. She talks about how four new worlds will be introduced in the seventh episode, with one having been hinted at the end of episode 6. The series has already experimented with moving around locations from the books, therefore, it’s a mystery what the new worlds could be. Read Pike’s full quote below:

“Episode 7 (streaming Dec. 17) is maybe my favorite. We’re going to enter at least four worlds you’ve never seen yet in the show. You can guess what one is by the end of Episode 6. But then major parts of Robert Jordan’s imagination — whole other climates and worlds we’ve never seen — they advance the story, they advance the threat, they advance the tension. And also there are other concepts that open up. We suddenly realize “new concepts of time,” I would say. Playing on the idea of “The Wheel of Time.”

The series has received generally positive reviews from critics, with many citing the show’s ability to ease new fans into its narrative. Criticism has been levied at the unevenness of the world-building by the way the series introduces so many locations and characters so quickly, not giving the leads enough time to develop organically. Episode 6 introduced Oscar nominee, Sophie Okonedo, to its ensemble, making her the second Oscar nominee after Pike to appear on the series.

The Wheel Of Time had Amazon Prime’s biggest premiere of 2021, and one of their biggest premieres ever. Though it’s too early to say if the series has staying power, the initial response by fans has been strong. The changes from the Wheel of Time book series show that Judkins understands that adaptation is more than just copying source material, but reinterpreting it for a new medium. With all the book fans, and new fans the show gains from its accessibility, The Wheel Of Time will hopefully become a staple for Amazon Prime and continue to delight high fantasy buffs everywhere.
