Where to Find Black Titanium in Fallout 76

Collecting junk and scrap is of utmost importance in Fallout 76, but a certain hard-to-find resource known as Black Titanium has been stumping some players, and is particularly crucial to later-game character builds. Scrapping armor pieces, weapons, and the infinite mountain of trash found throughout every corner of Appalachia is the fastest way to find resources to build C.A.M.P. components, weapons, ammo, and all sorts of other items, but players looking for Black Titanium need to look for it in very specific places.

Fallout 76 is the newest entry in the post-apocalyptic action-RPG series, taking a hard left turn from the usual single player routine and offering an online-only, multiplayer-focused experience featuring instanced servers with up to 24 concurrent players. Since the game’s release it’s received a plethora of feedback, and players await Bethesda’s upcoming quality-of-life changes and updates as the game is refined and molded alongside them in the weeks to come.

All that being said, players seeking Black Titanium would do well to heed the insights in this guide, and is most definitely needed for crafting and maintaining the unique Excavator Power Armor. In total, players will need at least 36 pieces to craft this armor, and there are a few methods in Fallout 76 — with varying difficulty, as detailed below — that can reliably offer Black Titanium at a steady rate.

Black Titanium Method One: Deathclaws

Deathclaws have been a longtime Fallout staple, but they’re just one of many cryptids scattered throughout Fallout 76’s map. Legendary Deathclaws reliably spawn on a specific island on the western side of the map (it’s actually quite close the edge of the allowed game area), on a unique location known as Deathclaw Island, just north of Point Pleasant and The Mothman Museum.

These legendary Deathclaws will appear here each game-day cycle. An easy method to farm them is to move a C.A.M.P. to the shoreline across from the island, build a structure with lots of turrets, and simply hang out and wait for your quarry to appear across the water. Note that Deathclaws can be difficult foes, but the creatures usually don’t cross the water, allowing you to kill them safely from a distance, then pilfer Black Titanium scrap from their corpses.

Black Titanium Method Two: Maps from Welch in Ash Heap

Something of a roundabout way to find Black Titanium at the cost of caps is to purchase Mine maps from a vending machine in Welch, located on the southern edge Ash Heap, which will reveal . We’ve provided the exact location in the above screenshot, but many players will also normally unlock this location while tracking the Overseer’s journals in an extended primary side quest.

Black Titanium Method Three: Gorge Junkyard Workshop

Taking over workshops is a great way to farm certain resources, and there’s one single workshop that can generate Black Titanium: the Gorge Junkyard Workshop in The Forest. Make your way to the Workshop, claim it, and mine the Black Titanium nodes with a resource extractor, and be prepared to defend it from both NPCs (they will regularly spawn here after the workshop is claimed) and fellow players who may want to claim the workshop for themselves.

Black Titanium Method Four: Mole Miners

A reliable way to farm Black Titanium for players of approximately level 15 is to seek out the Mole Miner enemies. These enemies always drop a unique item known as Miner Suit Scrap, which yields Black Titanium when scrapped at a bench.

As their name suggest, Mole Miners tend to be found around mine locations, including the various mines throughout Appalachia, as well as most of the Ash Heap area. Note that certain Mole Miner mobs (usually known as “Foremen”) come equipped with deadly missile launchers.
